Slumdog Millionaire- 8/10

Not bad, but not near as good as I had heard it was. What was sad in here was correct, the whole destiny thing was a bit shoved down your throat, and I wasn't a big fan of the ending. But I did like the story, and it was well done.

Boondock Saints (first viewing) - 5/10. I may be the first one I know that didn't love it, but didn't loathe it. Just okay. Some parts were good, some weren't. I'm on the fence and really can't decide if I like it or not. I know some people, like Casey lol, completely hate it. And I know some people that completely love it. I just can't make up my mind. I may watch it again sometime in the near future to help me decide.

Frost/Nixon - It was very good. I wouldn't say it was outright amazing, but it was solid entertainment and terrifically acted. I'm not sure yet if it makes my personal BP line-up, but it's close. 8.5/10.

Penn, Brolin, Franco, and Hirsche giving A+ performances and THIS wins best cast? I mean the Slumdog cast wasn't bad at all but COME ON. I think it pales in comparison to every other film it was nominated against ensemble-wise.

Into The Wild - A well made film. Felt a little too long. I've never read the book so this was my introduction to the life of Christopher McCandless. To me he was not a hero but troubled. I grew up the son of an alcoholic, my memories of my parents being together as well as my Father are all negative and on a couple of occasions I recall my Father physically abusing my Mother. Choking her one night. Never during my life and tough childhood did I think about abandoning my family and future to live out in the wilderness putting my life in jeopardy. McCandless should have sought out a shrink.

Laurence Olivier's Hamlet - Believe it or not this was my first exposure to Hamlet. Shakespeare's words are often times over my head, especially when reading them for the first time but one quote does stay with me, " thus conscience doth make cowards of us all. " I've been feeling that way about myself lately,when it comes to women.
