now that we don't have gawker to give up, what's everyone thinking (of those who are religious enough to bother)

I bought some Paczki's for the office today, seems like the Polish thing to do.

I could never give up the suite of sites formerly known as gawker. I like the creativity of most of the writers. The one negative is I always scroll down to the comment section, and the imagined self-importance of gawker commenters is nauseating.

I love Pączki (I'm very Polish). I don't get to eat ethnic as often as I like.

I'm giving up eating out (restaurants) and soda (or pop or coke or whatever else you call it from wherever you're from).

I'm saying as much as it adds to have a bag of BBQ chips with a sandwich, I don't need to eat the chips

maybe I'll get an order of nachos tonight then try to call it for a while

I should do this too. I am such a sucker for salty snacks, especially chips - usually finish a regular sized bag in 2 days, tops.

Coffee is outstanding. Does soda actually have a substantial amount of caffeine? I didn't know people actually drank it specifically for caffeine.

I'm proud to say I did it last year. The first weekend is always the hardest. Then you get used to it.

Plus, waking up on Saturday and Sunday and sometimes monday without the even the slightest of hangovers becomes pleasant.

Coffee has about twice the amount of caffeine in a 6oz cup than most soda's do per 12oz

    Lent can get bent.

If I want to fancy it up, I'll add a slice of lemon. I save the occasional cane cola for a rum/cola on the week-end.

Coffee is great, I moved from cream and sugar (milk and sugar I mean) to black about two years ago when I tasted good coffee and haven't looked back, so good. Don't know if they get it in the US but currently drinking Kicking Horse Coffee's "Grizzly Claw" variety, yuh-uh-umm - https://www.kickinghorsecoffee.com/e...ly-claw-ground

Gave up soft drinks about 7 years ago and caffeine about 5 years ago. I feel so much better since I stopped drinking them. When you drink enough water throughout the day it makes a huge difference in how you fell. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Gave up all meat (including fish), fast food, and junk food/snacking for Lent this year.

I feel quite healthy, but now all I want is a giant burger.

Who will be the first this year to post, "I'm giving up religion"?

Personally, I'm not giving up anything but making a pledge to be healthier (but actually setting up goals for myself, like biking 4x a week or something like that).
