A few tips for those ordering delivery:

    1. Turn on your porch light. Drivers don't have night vision goggles.

    2. This reminds me of another, put your fucking address somewhere on your house/mail box. Yes, drivers can count up/down from other houses, but it your jackass neighbors also don't have visible numbers, it's a pain.

    3. If your phone rings, fucking answer it.

    4. Don't. Fucking. Leave. If you're gonna leave, order carry out.

And you'll be guaranteed to be last next time. Viscous cycle.

I tip $10 every time. My food RARELY takes more than 20 min to get to my house.

If you go to the restaurant and get a 50 dollar tab, would you tip 20 bucks normally?

I don't tip percentage on delivery. The point of tipping percentage for servers is because they are taxed based on a percentage of their sales. That's not the case for drivers.

False. If I order a small ass order of $12, and a guy has to drive 15 minutes to get it to my lazy ass, then I'm going to tip him accordingly.

Why should I tip based on percentage?
ok.. i know waiters do more as far as the order and everything goes, however you still base it on what you order and how much the total is

think of it this way.... there are some people on here saying that they tip $3 or so no matter if the bill is $20 or $60. um.... ok, so... if you go to a restaurant, thats like saying "i'm tipping the waiter for a $20 dish because the waiter doesn't do anything different if the dish costs $20, or $50"

    get what i mean?

you tip on the full amount all times, with $3 being your bare minimum... jesus christ its delivery people... are things really that bad that you have to nickel and dime a $20 order? throw him a fin for being able to lay on your ass while your food is cooked and delivered

um, what? i have been in the restaurant business for years and i have never heard of that.... their sales go to the restaurant, not to them. i must be missing something here... every restaurant has a hourly rate, then tips, which they may or may not be taxed on

Honestly, 3-4 bucks regardless of what the price of the order is. He's making one trip regardless of what you ordered. Maybe if there's like 10 pies and he's making multiple trips from your car to the door, but other than that $3 to $5 should cover it.

    Tipping is annoying.

Not one consumer knows how to do it correctly, and every waiter/waitress acts as if they just blew me and swallowed and are now entitled to a fistful of cash.

Consumers... you don't like how a waiter is serving you, tell them.

Wait staff... you don't like how the consumer is tipping you, get another job.

The only thing based on a percentage of my sales that I had to pay was to tip out the bus boy at the end of the night.

has nothing to do with not being able to afford it.

If im paying 10 dollars for a steak, or 50 dollars for a steak, im getting better service in most cases at a higher end restaurant.

holy fuck so this. I've never had a problem with number 4 (though it's definitely a big rule), but I got pissed as hell whenever the first 3 weren't followed/weren't right or whatever.

delivery was fuckin stressful for me

This. There's nothing more annoying than hearing people in the service industry bitching about their job. For some reason they think they should be making 75K a year funded by their customers.

No one said that should be the case. It's perfectly acceptable to bitch about people being assholes at restaurants. The fact is that most people who work in the service industry can't afford to just quit.

If there wasn't good money to be made then no one would do it, but I see no problem with complaining if some asshole orders a ton of food and then leaves no tip.

What if the service was shitty.

I've left a $.02 tip before because the waitress was an abomination.

Re: Acceptable tipping rate for delivery?

People in the service industry are the whiniest people. They bitch about everything unless they get a 30% tip. It's not like there's a ton of money waiting tables, if you don't like it find another job making comparable money where you don't have to work for tips.
