Not a bad looking show but nothing really noteworthy here either, kinda seems like a lesser Live Trax 17. Was hoping for a Dave & Tim Live Trax tbh

Good show, but it's very similar to LT 17. I'll buy this, but we don't have much from 1999 or 2002. Both great touring years.

Agreed, far too many 1997 releases.

Same. I didn't start going to shows until Foxboro 2000. I'd love to see 03 Mansfield get an LT release. That two night stand was unreal.

Spring 02 stays waiting... It's still a 90s show with Bela so yeah I'll probably get this.

I know you're being sarcastic, but it's more that most of the 1997 shows are very similar, and a tour like 2002 has a lot more setlist variety.

Wait a minute, I'm just seeing now that Bela guested on Typical. That alone makes it worth it.

I think the Holmdel show from a few nights later has the better banjo solo, but I'll take this.

Bela on Crash/Minarets/Typical, all songs he didn’t guest on LT47. So they compliment each other nicely.

Yeah the more I think about it the less exciting this release is, unfortunately. even tho 1997 is a pretty underrepresented year, aside from the Bela guest spot theres really nothing that different between this and live trax 17. Even Live Trax 47 is a bit more exciting than this.

I don't want to be a complainer, I just really wish we got only unique/noteworthy shows. Of course, 90's DMB is amazing so one way or the other this will be a good listen it just seems like it'll be forgettable - on paper at least.

While I’ll agree your post is objective, I would never have anything bad to say about a 97 release with Bela.

    Super stoked for this.

X totally called this one. Wait, does X have the inside track? Honestly, he should

A lot of people are comparing this to LT17.... I own every cd but I had to look it up. For the Beauty of Wynona sets it apart for me. It's been a while since they released something previously unreleased.

I’m sure this release is gonna be great. LT17 and LT47 are two of the best, so overlap is hardly a bad thing.

Give me anything with bela fleck on stage and I’ll be happily purchasing. Excited to hear the opening 6 song run ending with a lovely 41>say bye. While I agree there’s nothing that pops out necessarily and that 47’s set is better, guessing it’s just another incredible performance from start to finish across the board. Similar to 64 being amazing, while not being mosts top choice from that run of shows. Already curious to see if they wait until July to give us 2 Dave and tim shows or dmb regular quarterly releases cause yikes that’s a long time. #daveandbela2024

I get that they want to get an idea of the demand before they ship, but April 3 is a long wait. They should just do everything digital. If people want a CD, burn it yourself. Saves us time and saves them money on packaging.

Good point. And I totally agree on what you wrote on TDC: June 97 is arguably one of the best months this band had

Yeah, bud, I was crossing my fingers for June ‘97, I have been listening to that run of show lately, I got curious after reading Nevin Martell book:
In the summer of 1997, the band logged in thirty headlining shows across the States with Tex-Mex country rockers Los Lobos and Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, with Jeff Coffin as openers. Starting, as usual, in Virginia at the Classic Amphitheater in Richmond on June 3.
DMB set out to do the last leg of a seemingly never-ending tour in support of Crash.

What I can say is that those June 97 show are truly amazing. The band has an incredible alchemy, Dave’s voice is top, and Béla contributions are so good.
I was especially hoping for 6.10, Jones Beach (Wynona > Typical > Ants), but I missed for 2 days.

And, no, I don’t have an inside track

My friend, I see your point, but let’s also look at the quality of an overall listen. I am sure that when we’ll listen to this show we all would be “wow”. It would be nice to have something new every time, but I don’t complain at all. People who complain for a 97 show deserve to have a 2018 show with Sledgehammer and all of that.
