I'd say that Carrey is a little funnier than Ferrell in the right presentation, but the better body of work is Will Ferrell. If you don't chew Big Red and like Will Ferrell, Fuck You.

Ferrell or Sandler. Sandler really put a nuke to his career later on but his early stuff can't be touched.

I don't really like Jim Carey in general other than Ace Ventura and The Truman show.

Would flip Ferrell and Carrey. Both are great and it's close, but Ferrell has made some classic movies and a bunch of classic SNL skits.

Sandler is clearly last with all the garbage he's put out despite his early work being fantastic. Some of Sandler's dramas were real bad though I'll give him a ton of credit for Reign Over Me. I thought he was fantastic in that movie and the scene when we finally talks about what happened in the psychiatrist's waiting room...... wow.

^ He's good in Punch-Drunk Love, too.

Ferrell's had some home runs, but I would say he has waaaaaaaaaaaay more clunkers and forgettable bits/films. His bad stuff is as bad as Sandler's worst.

Defcon's right, though, that if we're going by where they are in 2017 that Ferrell is smelling the sweetest.

really good question

I think Carrey has the best dramatic range and his pre movie work on in living color was the best so I'd give it to him by a nose

I like Big Daddy, Old School but mostly because of Vince, Elf, and Spotless Mind.

Just not really a fan of slapstick humor or characters.

The first four on that list from Sandler are some of the best comedies of all time.

Carrey and I don't think it's close. All three have shown themselves capable of their range with more dramatic work, but I think Carrey has the highest highs in both genres, especially on the dramatic side of the equation. The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind are among the best films of their respective decades and he's terrific in both.

I think any actor that lists both happy Gilmore and Billy Madison is REALLY stiff competition.

SNL is Ferrell's best work.

JC is probably the best actor of the three in my mind, but doesn't have anything that I recall making me laugh as much as HG/BM

I like Sandler. Used to like him a lot more but now I think Vince Vaughn is funnier.

So, because Carey did a couple of dramatic works that makes him better than Ferrell? I need more reasons that that. I'm not dead set on Farrell, but as far as who has made me laugh in the past decade, it's him. Whether it's East Bound and Down, Talladega Nights, Stepbrothers, some stuff on FOD, or probably tons of stuff I can't recall right now.

Adam Sandler hasn't been relevant since the early 00s. In the 90s he had a bunch of very formulaic movies that had their shining moments, nothing more, nothing less.

As far as Jim Carrey's dramatic works, I liked the Majestic the best...and I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it.

Zoolander 2 and Bewitched were both pretty terrible.

I never saw Land of the Lost, but have never heard a good review.

And he had more terrible SNL moments than hits, but that's true of most SNL players.

I can't speak to Jack & Jill as I haven't seen it, but I thought Anchorman 2 was absolutely horrendous. One of the worst films I have seen in theatres in recent years.

All of Sandler's movie are constructed the same way. Some comedy>>gets the girl. Ferrell has been unbearable for me over the years. My vote is Jim Carrey.
