Yeah, West Point doesn't allow taping, so all of the tapes from there are stealths, right? I've never really heard an excellent-quality stealth.

ok, as always i was excited to hear this, i'm glad you guys are doing these, and keep 'em coming.

but dudes, i disagree 100% about SUAD. I remember clearly the very first time i listened to the LWS, and it was the song I liked the most off the whole damn thing from listen number one!!! To say (in unison no less, which worries me as you guys could be percieved as being important voices in the fan community, and you know it) that the hype surrounding SUAD is due mostly to rarity, and that it's not really that good of a song (bottom third of the LWS?!?) is extremely disconcerting to me. I mean, very upsetting. I think you guys are way off the mark there, and to be proclaiming that stuff on one of these podcasts is . . well . . i'm not gonna say what i want to say about it because i have no desire to get into it with either of you about it. But i just wanted it on the record that i think that whole beginning segment regarding SUAD was pure malarkey and didn't belong on the podcast. You have to watch out when you make declarations like that on these podcasts, as you're, theoretically, reaching new sets of ears with these, and in a very real way, you're speaking for the whole community, whether you like it or not.

No, we're speaking for ourselves, not the entire community. I believe that in that segment, I even prefaced my thoughts with "this is my personal opinion.". I hardly think anyone sees us as representative of every single fan out there...and if they do, God help them!

I was asked today via email if we would be putting the podcast into the Zune marketplace. I looked into this and found that the marketplace will be going live with 1000 pre-selected podcasts for Zune v2's Nov 13th launch; after that, we'll be able (I believe) to submit the podcast to the Zune Marketplace.

Re: Ants Podcast - Episode 6

Great show again guys. Count me in as a dissenter on the SUAD discussion as well though.

Sweet Up and Down was one of my favorites on the LWS as well. Lyrically, it certainly could use work. No, it isn't very complex musically, but it's got a great groove to it. Listen to the 7.12.2000 version. It's out there in, umm, really good quality. I love that song and would be thrilled to have it on the next album.

On a technical note...Is there any chance you guys would do the show in .mp3 instead of .m4a? I use iTunes and all, so it isn't a huge deal, but I've got friends who won't touch iTunes and don't like their m4a files etc... Just a suggestion.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to future installments. Keep it up!

I know you're speaking for yourselves, but what i'm saying (constructive criticism) is that I think you're underestimating the scope of this new format that you've taken on. It's not a post in a thread, nor is it an article/editorial on the front page. You two are important voices, now more than ever (because you're being beamed into the ears of thousands of people worldwide, many of whom are not Ants i would imagine), and i beg of you not to see this as an attack on what you're doing, but rather a plea to recognize that this podcast format is a different realm/ a different animal than what you've dealt with before.

Think about talking head shows (anything from Meet The Press, to Crossfire, to Bill Maher, to PTI, to Baseball Tonight, etc). Usually, when there's someone taking one position, there's someone else with at least a mildly dissenting opinion, or at least someone who acknowledges a dissenting opinion. There's a reason for that. God knows that the forums would be boring if there wasn't some negativity/criticism of the band and it's work (a point that's been brought up a thousand times), but in this format, in this venue, i think you two should be careful with the negativity, especially when the two of you agree 100% on said negative remark. Actually, I think you've realized this already, as the podcasts have been overwhelmingly positive so far, am i right?

i'm not saying you shouldn't voice your opinions, i'm not saying that at all. I'm just saying that you should consider what it sounds like when you both voice the same negative opinion without any dissent or acknowledgment of dissent.

still love these though. I respect and admire the both of you. Matt, you run a wonderful site here, an invaluable resource and meeting place for dmb fans, and Jake, your voice will always carry weight if for no other reason than you've listened to an insane number of shows, giving you a perspective that i daresay is unique in its breadth. And that you guys have been in touch with management adds even more weight to your musings and reputations. These podcasts are a great idea, and you're pulling them off nicely. I just ask that you consider the gist of what i'm trying to say, that's all.

Re: Ants Podcast - Episode 6

Just got done listening just wanted to make one comment about the voting for encores, I agree with the points Jake and Matt made about why this wouldn't work, but the thing that came to my mind first why I wouldn't want this to ever happen is the element of suprise. I like not knowing what is coming next. may not be able to always get suprises in the encore but when that does happen it is special, I would never want to go away at shows.

SUAD was weak this year. Weak.

Man, I'm psyched you guys actually semi-answered my question. I'm the Colorado question and the Texasrules290 question (I could tell Jake liked that made that e-mail when I was 10). You more or less answered what I was curious about.

I know they love Colorado, it's more than evident in the releases. I was just hoping for a reason why it isn't a yearly stop. Seems like if they love it so much they could at least have one show in the 303...

Thanks for acknowledging my question though certainly cool to hear my e-mail like that .

I completely agree about voting for the encore....completely lame....I would rather have the band dictate what we hear...it's their show and we all attend to enjoy it.

Exactly, they are the artists and the setlist is their canvas. Let them play what they want, just not in the encore though the whole show.

I've just listened to Podcast Vol. 6 and starting to listen to Podcast Vol. 7.
Nice work, Guys!!!! It's the best way to spend some time during classes or sitting in train or bus. Thanks

And one more thing: thanks for giving us, Europeans, hope to see DMB here in 2008. And thanks for Your support!!! I... we.... are apprecieating it.

And my favourite part: "we have a lot of overseas fans in the forum, i.e. from Poland"
