Lawncare/Landscape Thread

It is about that time of year again, cutting grass, planting flowers and such.

I started doing some yard work the other day and realized that the previous owner had put weed tarp underneath the entire front yard. So I am currently ripping up the grass and tarp and reseeding my front yard.

If I was infinitely rich, being a landscaper would be my 'job'.

I know it's lame, but I love landscaping. It's like a big sculpture that you can walk on.

I hate lawncare. I pay a dude to mow my lawn, but mostly because my mower is broken and I'm too unmotivated get it fixed.

Get a bunch of goats, they'll graze on the grass and you won't have to worry about it.

This is doable, though I'm not sure my HOA would approve.

Does your HOA fine you if you let your grass get to long?

You don't have a retaining wall do you? Or live on a slope?

Ok, just checking. Sometimes they use a weed tarp like fabric to help hold soil from pushing on a retaining wall or to prevent steep slopes from collapsing.

Ugh. Fixing all the crap the previous owner did at my place was a chore and a half. Everything I uncovered at that place was completely half-assed.

I was paying a guy to mow my yard, but a friend gave me a "broken" lawnmower last week. All I had to do to get it running was prime it.

Guess I'll be mowing my own yard now.

Anyone have experience with zero turn mowers?

I plan to purchase a replacement over the next 6 months and am looking for recommendations.

I am leaning towards a Hustler, Big Boy or a used John Deere. Most likely Hustler at this point because of the flip up deck features.

no experience but I think you're gonna need to turn it at some point unless your yard is just like one long lane on a track

Routinely ride a Kubota at my family's acreage in Texas - it's a very nice mower.
