Good date movie. Incredibly formulaic, some great one liners that were hilarious, but very contrived and on the nose. I like Ali Wong, and love Randall Park in everything.

But Top 5 celebrity cameo of all time for me. Holy fucking shit
We watched this over the last three nights and very much enjoyed it. While I agree on the formulaic aspect as a rom-com, the plot devices and twists were not your standard fare. Theodore Logan was great...the surprise was ruined in some clip I'd watched unknowingly a couple of weeks ago, but the performance was great. I also agree on Randall being stellar in everything, but this is the first thing I've really enjoyed of Wong's.

Yeah. We popped it on between 11:30 and midnight each night and my wife or I would start to crash. Busy days of late.

    This is parenthood defined.

We made it thru this two hour movie in only 3 hours thanks to a napping baby, but we only got thru 20 mins last night and had to watch the rest today.

This was a good event. Typically we start watching a 2 hour movie at 4pm and it takes us at least 4 hours til after 8 to allow for eating, cocktail making, and of course, baby.

Right on, right on. I'm still living that D.I.N.K life, so I didn't think about that.

watched Bad Times at the El Royale last night. Thought it was entertaining. I don't think there was as much depth as the movie maybe thought it had

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

    Rocketman - 7/10

I was very excited for this release, as I have been listening to Elton John a lot over the past 8 months or so. I thought the movie was very good. Egerton's performance was fantastic, crazy how much he looks like Elton. The movie was clearly aiming to show the dual personalities of the person and the performer, and Egerton nailed it.

My critiques are mainly with the timeline issues. I get artistic licensing, but Crocodile Rock being played at his breakout US show (wasn't released until a few years later), playing Daniel for a record exec (wasn't released until a few years later)... with all of the famous songs Elton had from early in his career I felt that this could have been avoided. I also thought that they could have done a better job of including even just a couple scenes about some albums during his peak. There was a quick glimpse of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road as a record, but otherwise barely a mention of any of the albums.

I did enjoy the early reference by Bernie saying "I always wanted to be a cowboy." Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy!

Overall, I did enjoy the movie a lot. Would recommend!

I usually enjoy movies set up like this but this one didn't really work for me. It also took me two days to watch it which probably just took me out of it.

    Avengers: Endgame - 4.?/5
This was so damn good. I've never seen any Marvel movie in theater. In fact, I can't recall the last action movie I had seen in a theater. Maybe the Mission Impossible where they were in Abu Dhabi? I had the day off so I went solo to the earliest showing at Alamo. Freaking incredible. I ate like a goddamn king, had googled when to pee ahead of time, and just enjoyed it.

it starts off dumb, gets smart, and then twists. The twists are fairly illogical but in a way make sense (without giving too much away). It was worth the watch, I'm not sure what's so controversial about it
Watched this with the wife last night and it was definitely messed up. I've seen people are getting physically ill watching this, it certainly made me uncomfortable at some points, but people getting ill seems a bit much for this. I agree with you on starting dumb, getting smart and then twisting.

I felt the same way, I was really looking forward to this movie. The timelines were a bit skewed but I get how they had to work the songs into the movie. It was well acted and the musical numbers were great. It's beautifully crafted movie worth seeing for sure. It didn't blow me away like I had hoped, a little simplistic in the story line.

    John Wick 3: Parabellum - 2.5/5

If you're a fan of the previous two entrees (more so the second), you'll enjoy this. I found it entertaining for a short while and quickly grew bored. Same run-and-gun style over and over and over. He (Wick) literally never misses a shot and the fight sequences felt very choreographed and at times drawn out. I realize the series/character is over the top but it grew tiresome. Wish Jason Mantzoukas had a larger role

Revisited Cast Away last night for the first time in many years. Aside from it starting like an extended FedEx ad, it otherwise held up exceptionally well. Tom Hanks probably should have got his third Oscar for this, and that final act rips me in half even more as an adult now after truly understanding how and why real life life isn’t/rarely happily ever. Even though I’ve seen this movie probably a handful of times over the years, this is definitely one of the most emotionally affecting films I have watched in quite some time, for both rewatches and others that are completely new to me.

I'm just surprised the movie actually exists. I was beginning to think it was a myth based on the delays.
