Re: DMB Is Finallst for R&R HOF

Dmbs resume up until 2004 alone should be enough against this list

I just worry about the nonsense like Whitney, benatar and biggie. Not because they suck but because they aren’t rock n roll!

I’m wondering who would even induct them on stage. The only guy in the hall I can think of that’s performed and collaborated with them before is Carlos Santana.

And yeah they shouldn’t be on this list, but Biggie and Whitney will probably get inducted unfortunately.

"Nonsense"? At this point I think it's fair to say that the "Rock and Roll" portion of the name is just that...a name. Hall of Fame of Musical Significance doesn't quite have the same ring to it. There are plenty of artists that have been inducted that might not fall under that title, but the museum itself covers just about everything, so it's fair that those artists are a consideration. I want to see DMB in there just as much as the next fan, but there are tons of artists that have had a big effect and deserve their place.

Rock and roll isn’t what biggie and Whitney put out. I get their impact but it’s still nonsense

So why not just call it the “Music Hall Of Fame” then? You don’t see the Beatles being nominated for the Country Music Hall Of Fame.

Thats a shame, because i am pretty sure dmb would crush the online voting

I debate this as well. I think what DMB lacks is long term cultural relevancy. They definitely have the numbers though to support it

Crash was basically The Song of the late 90s and they had a fairly good run of being relevant with BTCS/LWS/ED and Space Between did pretty well but honestly it sort of died off after that. Now they are just a well attended live band that hasn't put out anything with strong relevancy in the last 10+ years.

Then you look at the flip side - the only way Biggy can get in is cultural relevancy. He only had 2 albums out while he was alive. Then two that came out posthumously. Is that really hall of fame worthy? I think the argument becomes who he was and what his name became after death. I'm not saying he didn't make great music but his cultural longevity is what is more impressive about him. It's crazy that the guy died 22 years ago and people still regularly mention Biggy and Tupac.

Looking back on their career, DMB sold 11.6 million tickets from 2000-2009. That's mind boggling when you think about it.

Interesting that none of the top tweets in the "event" mention DMB in the headline. Goes to the earlier points itt about current cultural relevance.

I don't know the answer to this, but what American band has sold more concert tickets all-time than DMB? If GD or someone is ahead of them currently, do we think DMB will eventually be #1?

Pat has not remained boxed into the genre, but she started as and remains a rock artist. She's really one of the strongest, best, and arguably first female rock artists (or at least among them).

You don't have to be a R&RHOFr to induct someone

Maybe Mraz, Meyer, Benante, Branford, Bela...?

    Nope, sorry, Warren Haynes.

I know, but it's usually someone who's in the hall that has a relationship with the artist.

Hope they get in! The 2020 ceremony is in Cleveland, would be exciting to see DMB do something cool to celebrate it. Last time it was in CLE, Green Day did a show at House of Blues. Not holding my breath, but possibilities are out there (Not to mention we got skipped on the last tour).

I get what you're saying, but look at the list of ALL of the inductees. The place is littered w/one hit wonders, many that had minimal cultural impact ("long term" being nullified but their one-hit wonder status).

I was just thinking of Lukas Nelson before good call. He seems to be tight w Dave from Farmaid and from his introductions of Dave at Farmaid seems to be a fan.
