Naval Ravikant is my favorite episode.

The sleep doctor and the alex jones ones are probably my favorites.

I think Diaz is funny, but he's kind of obnoxious on the pod, he over runs any topic and makes it about him, makes it hard to listen.

Rogan's last special was pretty good, liked it more than anything else ive seen from him.

Diaz I like in small doses but I dont think he's great.

Speaking of recent eps, the Chris D'Elia one is decent, but sheeeesh his new special is fucking awful. Idk how he's gotten as far as he has, I swear its mostly off of looks.

I watched five minutes and had to turn it off. He was such a tool. Nothing he said was even remotely funny. I don't know what the audience was laughing at. All he did was tell narcissistic jokes and flash that shit-eating grin of his.

I wanted to give him a chance but I couldn't find anything worth giving time to.

All of his stand up is just condescending hardo BS, making weird noises and being loud. I truly dont get it at all, but a bunch of comedians I respect like him as a person and he's pretty active in the LA scene, but at the same time you dont hear them talking about his specials or act ever.

You have to work harder if you’re a hunky stand up comedian, D’elia just doesn’t put the work in

Women seem to love that dude, I don’t see it.

Mark Normand, Gulman and Chris Destefano are much more attractive.

Fav Joe Guests: Sleep Podcast, Jordan Peterson, Paul Stamets, Sober Octobers, Sam Harris.... I also enjoy Joe with the sober October gang solo. Specifically Tom Segura.

Chris D'Elia hooked in an entire generation of college kids with his white girl wasted bit. "You don't know me... *Heave* I don't need no man... *Heave* I bought these shoes with muh own money...

That bit bought him a decade worth of equity with those type of comedy fans. I don't mean to lump them all into the same category, but two friends of mine who love D'Elia also love Jo Koy, Shumer, and Dane Cook. I don't know what that "style" is, but it's like a pop culture kind of comedy that hooks in a certain kind of comedy fan. Brian Callan called D'Elia the Taylor Swift of comedy.

Jo Koy seems like a really cool dude, love listening to him be interviewed on podcasts but his standup doesnt click with me at all. Koy kind of reminds me of a dirty version of Fluffy without the sound effects. There is definitely a sort of lane there, but its hard to put your finger on. Im not sure Shumer fits in there but hard to say, I actually kind of like her stand up, playing the same role in every movie is what makes me tired of her.

Right? I'm not sure what that lane is, but it certainly is a style.

I would agree on Shumer. I liked her early stuff. Her bit about being out at the club and lights go up at last call and it's like monkeys in a zoo. that's the stuff that I loved from her. Sexually deviant but from the women's perspective.

I think she took a lot of lumps from other comedians for "stealing bits." No clue what the story is there, but didn't she walk off JRE when he was laying into her for stealing?

D'Elia hooked me with this set

I do not like Dane Cook, never heard of Jo Koy, and Shumer is meh. I don't mind vulgarity or crassness, but she just abuses it for lolz.

Im not really sure about JRE, dont think I heard that ep. I know there was stuff about her stealing bits 5-6 years ago but I dont remember the details.

Koy is huge with asian americans and hawaiians. Its weird because hes not a household name at all but he packs arenas on the west coast.

Dane cook is great. Not sure there is a D’Elia without cook.

Plus Cook came up with Patrice, Bobby Kelly, Burr and Gulman he has earned his chops.

Shumer stinks, I haven’t liked her since she was a feature for Jim Norton.

The accused her of stealing bits from Patrice. Patrice used to do a bit with all those urban dictionary sex terms and she started doing that, I don’t think it’s “stealing” but it came out during that backlash against her and Opie and Anthony fans really went on attack against her

I wish Patrice was still around just for podcasts, wouldve loved to hear more genuine stories from him. He always came across as one of those people that is 10x funnier in real life than he can be on stage, and he was great on stage.

I only saw him once in 2006 at Salem State university with Bobby Kelly (who wasn’t fat and had some hair) lol

I remember the flyer for it said “Patrice O’Neal he plays a warehouse worker on the office”

I don't really like Rogan, but I am 100% in his corner when he goes off on joke theft. I thought it was great how he just ripped into Mencia.

Anyway, about Schumer, some of her stuff is pretty suspect:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q74Z4K0A6qE

Did she steal that joke? I don't know. Could be parallel thought. Could be cryptomnesia. But it wasn't the only time people pointed out similarities. "Slap chef" is a prime example, and so is that bit where she's trying to describe a black worker without using the word black.

What was the JRE episode where she walked out? I'd be interested in hearing that one. I know she went on Jim Norton's podcast to defend herself, too.

Yeah she cried on it. What’s annoying is Norton would have hammered anyone else but he *thinks* Amy can help his career (even though she cut him out of train wreck)

Norton said he won’t watch any comics stand up because he never wants to be accused of joke stealing, kind of dumb imo.

I just saw the vid of Joe getting in Mencia's face about it recently. He was completely destroying him inches from his face and the entire crowd was against Mencia. Pretty crazy stuff.

Can we also talk about how much Joe has mellowed out over the last decade? I can't see 2020 married and fatherhood Joe getting on stage to tear up a comedian for stealing jokes. Maybe I'm off base here, but that seems like a time gone by for Joe.

I happen to like Norton. Saw him live on last comic standing, he really cracked me up. Met him in the Village, he complimented my shirt (Sabbath). Seems like a cool guy.

But when he was on Mind of Mencia during a bit that was really close to a Sam Kinison routine, it made me cringe. It was the bit where Sam was like "Jesus could never have been married... no wife would let you leave for 3 days. Leave on a Friday with 12 guys, come back on Monday looking like shit. 'WHERE'VE YOU BEEN!? AND WHERE ARE THOSE 12 FUCKING LOSERS WHO WON'T GET A JOB!?'"

... I think Jim was on that Mencia bit, but I could be remembering wrong.

He's a way different guy than he was a decade ago. I think the psychedelics changed his personality a bit.

Chubby mean Norton was the greatest. I never missed a tour or O&A

Norton of the last 5 years is super meh. Skipped seeing him last year for the first time in probably 10 years.

He also ran CHIP into the ground which was super depressing, but agreed the few times I met him he was really chill, super nice.

Just came to shit on Schumer. Her comedy is crass with no substance. At least with Louie you get a little more than just a dick joke. But I did enjoy train wreck or whatever her movie with Bill Hader was.

I definitely agree that a LOT of these comedians today are way better/funnier on their podcasts.

I'm also wondering why Dave Chappelle has never been on Rogan; they've done stand-up shows together. Would probably be one of Joe's biggest episodes ever.

I can't stand Schumer. The only thing I dislike more than her comedy is how it's framed as an anti-feminism thing if you don't like it. Like, some people really believe you would enjoy her comedy more if the same jokes were said by a guy.

And you know what? I think it would be way funnier if a guy said "I HAVE A SMELLY VAGINA!"

Agreed. Though he single handedly ruined masturbation jokes. cough.
