I think this philosophy has always been difficult for religious people. Even within denominations of Christianity. Beginning with the break away from Catholicism and Martin Luther. To Baptists, Episcopal, Methodists etc.. they all think each other are wrong in different theological ways based off different interpretations of the same book.
How can we ever expect a more universal approach to other religions when they can't even agree on if music in church is evil or not lol. Seriously, went to a Christian College for a year and the church on campus is of a certain belief that think because there won't be intstruments in heaven that all the music in church should not include instruments. Not even an organ. They will not go to a church that has music in their service. This is based on someone's interpretation of the Bible. Just wild.
However instruments for secular songs are ok, because that music will end up in hell anyways and we more or less just have to suffer it's existence and it's ok to enjoy it on earth.
We are asking these folks to look at Muslims, Jews, Hindus and expect to find common ground?? Haha. Never.
