Re: Live Trax Vol. 62: Blossom Music Center 6.25.2010

ill buy the CD. show looks fine and I like 2010. My big grip here is that we have so many 2010 shows release that each one decreases the chances of getting one of the best released. literally two dozen i'd take over this one from that tour

DMB is terrible in just about every aspect. I really think they get a kick out of disappointing the 5 people in the fanbase that still care.

2010 was a good year, but this is not a good show. $75 is a good price for a boxset, but I just can't with this one. I'm breaking my LT completion officially. It was bound to happen and make skipping LT 9 and 10 easier to do now.

Honestly the thing I keep hoping for is a release with Miguel Valdez playing percussion since the band all talk about how impactful he was as a musician. But no dice.

I have no motivation to buy this, so I won’t buy it. I’ll won’t listen unless it shows up on nugs, and it will be select songs. It’s not interesting enough at all to listen to the whole thing all the way through. I don’t even like the sound in 2010 that much, and this set is bad for that year. At least go with 5/28 if it’s going to be 2010, but it’s a unsurprising striking out looking type of release. They never fail to disappoint that for sure

Posted this in the vinyl thread, but figured it's worth sharing here

Looks like a solid release. I personally love the heavy rock sound and prominent featuring of Jeff in 2009-2010. The description isn't far off base.... those Stand Up > Recently segues were a big talker back during 2010 on these boards.

Even if you hate the release, DMB vinyl continues to prove worth as an investment, holding and/or gaining value.

Even Hollywood Bowl 2018 is running for $100+ on Discogs now.

This is one of the only parts of the show I’m looking forward to. Big Eyed Fish > Grace is cool and I like the encore. That’s about it.

I don’t see anyone saying this. The only people saying anything like this are the people who attended the show (happy for them) and a couple of the avid vinyl collectors. And Hilly who doesn’t count

They will save the good show for when they are playing state fairs and no one is a aware they exist anymore. My phish friends that are about 30 or younger are puzzled when I say I used to follow dmb around. It’s like why? Aren’t they basically a pop act that died in the 90s. Man it’s sad to see, but they don’t do anything anymore to get the fans engaged. It’s just about 20 normal people on message board that still kinda care and travel to shows. The rest of the fanbase is almost a weird cult aka dmb fam. Then it’s a bunch of soccer moms that didn’t get a chance to see them in the 90s, and go for the sing alongs.

I’m not saying a really special live trax would change the direction. It won’t at all, but it’s a combination of a ton meh for years that caused the current state. Things like Roi passing is out of the control of the band, but lack of creativity, and not paying attention to the what the hardcore loyal fans wanted slowly killed it. Just really damn sad, considering what they had. Maybe that’s why they don’t want to release a really good package that would engage some people that haven’t been around for a while. They just know that the magic that once existed is gone, and they know they can’t live up to old school dmb standards anymore.

Who writes the descriptions? “DMB had no intention of slowing down..”?!!!

They literally advertised that tour as the last one before taking a break in 2011. It’s the definition of intent of slowing down.

    Geez.

Horrible waste of a vinyl release. If it was $20 I’d consider. This is the most random release they could have chosen for it. They have no understanding of their niche fan base. Don’t think the #luvbaby! Crowd is buying 100 dollar vinyl.

The least they could’ve done to increase interest was include an awesome 2010 Encore Trax that had the songs we all want like Sister, Satellite, etc.

I used to love those encore trax. Any release that included one was an immediate buy. And it doubled as a reason to keep my Warehouse membership current.

Perhaps but it's a poor reason to purchase an album. This is why RSD has a bad rep now, because people only buy things for the alleged value rather than the music.

If fans buy this for the value then what message does that send to DMB management? They'll buy anything! If more of us said, "No this is a bad release, and I'm not going to give them my money." They'll notice when they have stock on hand well beyond other vinyl releases.

Fair point. I agree the value of the music should be more important than the profitability for the purchaser. However, I disagree that this is a bad release. It will be interesting to see how this sells and how the price moves

This sentiment also is applicable to so many markets beyond vinyl, sneakers come to mind for me. People will buy up stuff they have no intent of using, if it gives them a sense of value or some extra cash on the flip.

I also thought RSD has a bad rep because it forces the stores and dealers to buy all the stock, and they get stuck with the crap no one wants.

I think the Q4 releases have generally been regarded as special. This just seems like a run of the mill random release. What is the significance of it? Why THIS show?

It’s really disappointing to not get a Blu ray package either.. I’d actually be more inclined to buy if it was video instead of vinyl. There is no reason to
Buy a random 2010 show on vinyl. Even LT58 was from
    A highly sought after tour.

This feels like a money grab on a throwaway show. LT60
Would be a good one for vinyl! They just don’t get it.

Have they changed who is releasing these? Anyone in management change recently? This just seems so out of touch. Like they picked a non DMB fan from the music industry to release this years selections and the descriptions. Maybe Dave’s kids?
