I can't tell for sure if you're kidding or not, but you must be, right? I mean, it's not even the best of the 2006 songs on this album

Studio version is awful. That chorus drum part is so much worse and the production is just terrible. So disappointed because it is a great song.

The shitty live intro and Carter’s drumming in the chorus make the studio cut a regrettable failure/train wreck. It’s sad. I had high hopes, and they turned it into a throw-away track. Another piece of proof that DMB really is capable of ruining anything.

This has long been one of my favorite songs.

This studio cut is awful. Mark Batson should never produce another DMB album ever again. Holy fuck

Easily the best song on the album to me. By far. Damn the song rolls. Listened 7x to it. Nothing else comes close to as good as this track.

Carter sounds flawless, the horns roll. Dave sounds good.

    Who is on keyboard?

Keyboard gives the song so much punch on this one. Really good job by Butch, then. Quite an enjoyable track in the studio form. Carter impressed me a lot.

I think the live intro is badass, it has Violin, it sounds like DMB. Carter sounds great.

Maybe this will change, but I don't see any track overtaking it as best on the album in my book.

This is once again the obvious where no one in the band is ok speaking up to each other about bad musical decisions.

The live intro really threw me off. I had my pitchfork out but now I think its kinda unique. Yeah I already knew it was Roi, but it was SO nice to hear new/old stuff from him.

If they had never heard it before today they would be loving it - but as with a few other things on the album the live cut into studio was just a bit sloppy

Absolutely love the live intro on this and I don't mind the drumming. Reminds me of the 06 versions.

Anyone have any idea which show the intro was from?

I know it’s getting a lot of hate, but listening to this for the first time this morning gave me goosebumps. A dmb song hasn’t done that in a long, long time.

The live intro is strange but I liked it. Sort of a tribute to the song’s roots. It was really moving knowing it’s Roi in this track. Live Trax 6 was one of the first dmb albums I bought towards the beginning of my superfandom, so this song has been a favorite of mine for a while. Could the studio version have been better? Absolutely. But I still really, really liked it upon first listen.

I wish the "clocks beat" only happened for the horn section solo part, and was just him on his crashes/china cymbal instead of the ride. The ride/snare pattern he is doing just feels a bit mechanic, and lacks dynamics. Vocals sound great, and I really like Butch's piano playing, as well as the veilette guitar really being forward in the mix.

Agreed. Transition from live to studio and the 2nd verse are very awkward.

    This is really good.

The Live Intro is a perfect homage to the past & present vibe they're trying to put forward with this album.

On first listen, I thought the transition to the 2nd verse was awkward.
But It's grown on me. I think I'm just accustomed to the same way it's transitioned for 12 years live now.

I love that you hear Roi - super cool.

Choruses and the bridge are very good on the studio version. The Coldplay drums in the chorus aren’t bothering me as much as some after some plays. Verses were so much better in the 2013 live versions.

It'll be interesting to see how it holds up with time.

I felt like it could have been really, really good. And some missteps just ruined it.

I could see that. I first thought it sounded just like one of the Summer Tour Warm Up versions on Youtube

Fucking Carter man. Fucking Carter. This was a stupid ass drum pattern away from being one of my favorite studio cuts this band has put out in years. But I wont' even bother with more than a few listens with the dumbass musical decision of the clocks drumming.

I think its the biggest disappointment of the album by far (if we're not talking about songs that didn't make the cut). This track could have been something special and the chorus is just absolutely forgettable with that drumming. It goes against literally everything else going along musically.
