I heard portion of the studio WATM on Thursday and it sounded good. It’s via cell phone, so quality is dog dick, but it didn’t sound busy. Outro wasn’t much longer than Black and Blue Bird. Also heard one of the “solo” songs isn’t solo.

Yeah, I'm sure Dave went to Jeff and said something like, "I don't give a shit what you think or what music you write. This is for sure the most logical way of interpreting Jeff's lack of songwriting in DMB. From band interviews, it's clear that Dave is a draconian dictator and Jeff is a hired hand who knows no one wants to hear what he has to say.

Yeah he's the leader, but that's not always necessarily the case. There's still some level of collectiveness among the band members. At some point last year some people complained about FITR, and Jeff said something along the lines of 'we love Zeppelin and we love that music so we're gonna play the music we love'

Probably the biggest nugget we've got in a while. I hope this means WATM is the next single, and maybe it'll be released this week. I'd guess we'll probably get a teaser social media post to be ready for "something new" beforehand. Since we don't have that yet, the drop probably isn't imminent.

Also, just pointing out that the B&BB outro is basically 10 seconds. So I'm setting my expectations accordingly.

The good news about them being so shitty at social media is I don't think it is a given that this will even happen. I could see them just dropping it. Hell WATM initial drop plus like a lyric video clipped in a few different spots they can drop every few weeks might be enough content to get them to release.

Still 2 months away. Lol. What a trainwreck of an album launch. I was excited back in January, now I'm just kind of indifferent. I am sure there will be some good tracks on there but I'm already thinking about the next album

Every track is exactly 10 minutes, or exactly 2 minutes, and the total run time is 92 minutes or 28 minutes. I'm still working to get better insight on this, as the band is very aware how the fans feel about track lengths!

Don't worry, it's coming soon! BTCS30 will have everything fans want - a 15 second TikTok with a Pig tease in the background, an Instagram post asking what everyone's favorite track is (with comments disabled), and 3 photographs from either 1998 or 2019 tours, not sure yet.

But what other explanation do we have for Jeff's continued diminishing role in every aspect? Studio and live? 08/09 he seemed to have full creative control of his role as long as he included Roi's parts in every song. But he jammed, and came up with new stuff every night. Seemed to have a lot of energy/fun on stage.

He's turned into a hired hand, when his initial role seemed to be to honor Roi and have some creative expression of his own. It's very different now.

Around 2012 is when started scaling back due to AFTW having more "canned horns" Seems like RR came up with the parts and Jeff just played them. Jeff has never really been part of the creative process in the studio.

Jeff really seems to shine on songs from Big Whiskey and before. AFTW and after we're not really getting a lot of input on.

Several of the new songs feature Jeff heavily. WATM, MME, and OATB. What is your explanation for that?

Awesome thanks for the info. Hate the lack of flute outro but hopefully a sign that some of the other short songs will have jams live.
