DMBLive Series.....What Happened

Is it just me or have there been no releases recently? It's a good complement to the TRAX series but maybe just a smaller catalogue because everything can be released as a live TRAX now.

Maybe they can release odd shows that have a twist or something which could be released as a TRAX but wouldn't be. I don't know but seems like this series is dead.

Bruce doesn't know, I don't think anyone has a definitive answer to this. But going three years without a single release should start telling all of us this series is now defunct.
Maybe they actually got concerned they would go through their vault at that rate and stopped.

I love this series. It digs deep into my favorite period of the band, and gives us access to shows that wouldn’t be released otherwise. Even just one a year would be better than this.

D&T does nothing for that isn’t covered by DMB. But at this point I may buy the D&T and Dave solo shows as I have all the full band shows since 2.5 years ago.

It’s obsolete. We have Live Trax and DMB Radio, where we get a new broadcast every once in a while.

We can all agree it's safe to say the series is dead or at the very least on extended hiatus. In the meantime, what would be some good selections for the next few vinyl releases?

My number 1 and 2 selections would definitely be Trax 7.28.92 and Flood Zone 1.27.93.

    Others on my wishlist are:

    Boone 3.29.03
    Salt Lake City 3.3.99
    MSG 10.3.96
    Durham 4.7.95
    Athens 4.6.94

I definitely recommend you do so if you haven't yet. Some of the best Dave and Tim material is found in this series, and the quality is great seeing how it's just the two guitars + vocals.

Also, one of Dave's best solo shows in my opinion is the Benaroya Hall show, second only to Sweet Briar (warts and all)

It's a shame if this Series is dead, which looks like it probably is. The fact is there are so many shows this series opens up to which won't get released otherwise because of recording. I started buying boots in '96 with Live, you Say? Crashing Quarters, Swept Away, Berkeley, Hampton 12.31.95, ect.. I have a song labeled as Believe, which is really the birth of #36, from my Backstage Tavern '94 disc that's 20 minutes of just jamming, with a killer bass player, have no idea what it is or who is even playing but pretty freaking cool. There are just so much out there from that era and going into 2000. Then everything is recorded, heard and distributed with technology. It's just a shame to leave all this material out there. I can say that which has been released through the LiveSeries has been "safe" and not raw, which is really awesome.

It appears the shows from this series are now up on nugs. Hopefully permanently. Pretty cool.

My hope for a long time was that DMBLive would transition into offering shows that were not widely available through fan tapes. They could do minimal, bare bones mixes, just to get something out to those who would be interested or those who were there and help fill in some gaps in their recorded history. Would also open up the last 20-25 years of some possible shows for this series, which could generate a bit more interest in it.

it's a bummer they killed this series. Seems like it'd be so easy to put out one new show a month or quarter. No long promotion or pre-order period necessary. Just announced it on a Tuesday and make it available for download later that week.

I really thought we get a show with a People, People and more shows with Blue Water. It’s heartbreaking we never did.

Still bummed this series died. All those early days shows that still aren't released must be sitting around somewhere, or they realized most of them were soundboard pulls already available. Was hoping for some more unheard gems or Dave and Tim releases.

Maybe they have more ‘93-‘96 shows multitracked than we all thought they had and that’s why they stopped with this series?

This would also be perfect for alternate sources of 1997-98 shows due to some of the reported damage (Knowing how much they toured that year is it true there's a LOT of 1998 that's damaged?)

We don't need the DMB Live series. We have Xcacel and Jamie
