I listen to it today w/ some headphones on and it's really a great fucking song. Could have easily been on BTCS. I just wish they would make more music like this.

Listened a bunch over the last few days and I think the studio version has grown on me. I was wondering why it was mixed the way it is, but it really does seem like a track that has the OG 3 front and center, which I think is neat. Not the best mixed track still, but I like it and I hope in context of the album it'll be even cooler.

solid 4....sounds great for a studio track from them but feels a little too much (pun intended) like Last Stop's little brother, which isn't a bad thing

It's good! Would agree 4/5 and the lesser of Last Stop. But it's well done. Thought/effort/passion was put into this. It's just kind of a hard one to sing along too.

agreed! to me this is more a solid album track rather than a single....but i'm guessing they wanted to make a topical statement by picking this vs WATM or TOT

you can sing DDTW in the shower....."yes i will call this hoooooome" is perfect for shower acoustics

I used to sing that falsetto in the shower too but started screaming it when Dave made the change. Now my spouse is always concerned when I'm yelling it from the bathroom. She's like I do eventually need to get in there if that's your new home.

Old time DMB fan here. Haven't listened since 2013 or so. Gave the CT album a chance on release, listened once, never again.

Crawled out of my hole to hear MME for the first time. Gave it a 1/10. Melody tries too hard to be like Last Stop/Minarets, verse vocals are annoying, lyrics lacking any real poetry of the old days, chorus is annoying and one note.

Back into my DMB-less hole I crawl.

I gave it a 4. I always thought it was a good song, and it sounds great in the studio. I have gone back and listened to it a ton.

Haven't listened to this song since Friday. It came out, I played it 4 or 5 times and then moved on. Very forgettable track on par with Drunken Soldier (Interesting music and arrangement paired with fluffy trite lyrics)

Both of these Chrosus' are terrible.

Agree, track is bad and has no replay value.

If they released this during the days when they were making actual good music it would be immediately dismissed as terrible and trite. The bar is embarrassingly low now.

Pass / fail as a song itself for me was 11/5/21, some songs gain or lose appreciation as time goes on but I've always had MME at what would be a 4

I disagree. I think they are perfectly fine, especially the Madman's Eyes chorus.

Couldn't agree more. Haven't listened to MME since it came out, nor do I really want to. Nothing is making me want to come back to it. It's just a super average song and as you said, extremely forgettable. It's not god awful or anything but if I never heard it ever again I wouldn't really care at all.

You do you, boo, but it really seems like you (and others) are saying that just because MME and the Last Stop are both in a double harmonic major scale (even though the notes and tuning are different) that the songs are somehow too derivative of each other. If the scale wasn't so distinctive in American pop music, I can't help but think this would never even occur to you. Obviously this objection doesn't apply to your other issues with the song, but I would urge anyone who feels this way to expand their musical horizons.
