Love this band, but I saw them live at Fun Fun Fun Fest about a decade ago and thought they were awful live.

But maybe just not a festival band. Modest Mouse is my favorite band, and they are amazing live, but suck absolute shit at festivals.

Modest Mouse has been amazing for me at their own shows and festivals. Prob my fave festival band. So much fun.

They were okay at Fun Fun Fun Fest, but at the much much much bigger ACL Festival, they were notoriously awful each time they've done it. Last time I saw them at ACL it was literally nothing but their radio hits and Brock didn't seem like he gave a single fuck about being there.

Got to see the Lonesome Crowded West anniversary show at Moody. Amazing. I'd see them over DMB any day, just not at festivals.

it was nice to see Dave come out and support the local Seattle bands. He didn't want to make it about him so he played the song and then got off stage quietly. The acoustics in that theater sounded a bit off. couldn't hear dave's voice very well. but also his voice may be in "recovery" mode between tours

I also think Dave keeps it reserved when guesting. For as much as he likes to bring guests on stage to tear it up, he tends to hold back a bit himself.

Maybe out of politeness or simply just deep focus and not wanting to make a mistake.

When I saw him guest with Dead & Co last summer it was awesome, but you could see he was just soaking in the moment and not wanting to make it about him in the slightest. It was cool, but I also wanted to see him just take one moment to the level he gets to during a DMB show.

Ya, I saw them as an opening act once and just was not impressed. Could be I just didn't "get it". They sounded like a sub par garage band.
