Re: 2017 Dave & Tim Summer Tour

Not sitting in the lawn for this, and I cannot justify paying damn near $100 (before fees!) for pavilion. Gonna have to pass this year.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Not at all. Hopefully, you & I are wrong, but I think this tour is a terrible idea. Why the hell is the band taking off if Dave & Tim are going to do a tour anyway? It's not the same atmosphere, not the same energy & there's nothing worse then tailgating all day for an acoustic show. Personal experiences include Dave & Friends at Bonnaroo, thankfully it was only one song, The Chicago Caravan...you could barely hear them, so if anyone is on the lawn, good luck...then the two shows at the Saegner in NOLA in 2014. Maybe these venues will be different, but sitting down for two shows were a buzz kill. It was sad actually. I am happy I saw those two shows in NOLA as if I didn't I'd probably be attending a lot of these shows. Just my two cents. Can't wait for the band.

I can't see spending 100 to see a D&T show at blossom unless you're lower pavilion. I won't be requesting through WH unless they offer lower pavilion only option. I'm not getting stuck with their upper corner garbage. Not really sure what the demand is gonna be like for these amphitheater shows . . . Really woulda rather seen them do small theaters but o well

Saw Dave and Tim at farm aid and the DAR last year and they did not disappoint. Very excited to see these dates. Will be at blossom and maybe CMAC. Will see...

Nah I think (and hope for your sakes) you're wrong. D&T last summer in Canandiegua or whatever it's called was phenomenal. Most people were standing for most of the concert, the atmosphere was electric, it was such a good show. The crowd felt almost as intense as some of the most intense European shows in 2015 (small venues, everyone screaming, particularly Glasgow where the crowd noise was deafening between songs)

I hope you get the same experience this tour! I'm fairly sure we (across the pond) will

Every D&T tour, no west coast, even when there's not even any DMB shows that year.

    Fuck off Dave.

No. You right. An acoustic show, based around one vocal and two acoustic guitars, has no business being played in an outdoor amphitheater. An acoustic show relies heavily on the physical acoustics of a room.

They easily could have played indoor venues, but gotta sell those tix

For as much as I rip on Blossom, I think it could be a suitable venue for Dave and Tim. Acoustics are its strong suit. Maybe not the lawn, but it's perfect for the orchestra who summers there. The crowd that shows up is the wild card.

DMB/D&T in the states is not the same as DMB/D&T in Europe. You guys have and give off so much more energy at shows. Maybe it's because we're so used to them touring and them touring has been a guarantee every summer for the last 20 years. But judging by the live releases, the tapes, the DVDs, and what the band has publicly said about playing overseas, it's just not the same.

Maybe the reason they're playing larger venues than usual is because they aren't playing a lot of shows and want to give more people the chance to be able to attend. Sure a small intimate setting is great but it might be cool to see them at a place like SPAC that is beautiful and known for its phenomenal acoustics. Might be wishful thinking, which I hope it's not, but I've never seen a D&T show and am excited at the chance too no matter where it is.

That's what I'm saying, when I was at D&T in Canandaigua this summer (ie USA), the atmosphere was as intense at points as the best of Europe... I saw the Florida DMB shows too, and that was totally different. But the D&T show in New York State was insane!

It was definitely Carter. I was told he was completely exhausted last summer. You could tell by his face when drumming too.

I'll repeat what others have said in that I simply cannot fathom sitting on the lawn for this type of show. It was bad enough for the acoustic set during #2sets. I'll also agree that $100 for upper pavilion is a load of trash. This is a hard pass unless I pull a good lower in the on sale (unlikely).

WTF is the deal with no West Coast dates? You'd think a minimum of two or three shows... A night at the Gorge? Hmm...

I agree that Carter looked exhausted this summer, but I don't think he is the reason for a full year off. If we are just going off stage presence from recent tours, I would place my bet on our resident trumpet player.

Having never been to a Dave and Tim show I'm really excited to see what it's all about in person. Though I do agree with others that the prices are rather ridiculous. I figured it'd be much cheaper for a Dave and Tim show. I'll be paying more for pavilion seats this year than I did on pit tickets last year for full band.
With that said, I'm still looking forward to the show!

The Mann is an amazing venue. I've sat all over the place there and though I can't imagine being on the lawn for a D&T show, I will say it's probably the best lawn I've ever been on (along with Bethel).

The only place I haven't sat is the balcony. The terrace is seating outside the pavilion, but I'm glad to see they're not charging the full pav price for those like many bands do.

Bottom line - way way better (and smaller) than Camden.

No bad seat in the house? And is the terrace seating still pretty good sightlines and all that? I don't mind that it's outside as long as still good sound and sight.

It'd be great if Dave pushed the mellow, relaxing vibe like he did during the '03 D&T tour. SPAC could be amazing if everyone sat and chilled on the lawn for a D&T show.

I understand your point... and I'm hopeful they can pull off these venues. One point of hope should be Simon and Garfunkel's Central Park concert. Amazing.

CMAC is a beautiful venue for D&T... maybe I'm biased because it's in my back yard but I love hearing them play there.

Hey is it pretty much a safe assumption to make that after the east coast shows "sell-out" or hopefully to almost capacity that they're going to announce some shows west of the Mississippi? It seems kind of obvious that they aren't going to leave the west coasters out? Colorado seems like an obvious choice for a nice two night stand. Which leaves us with either two nights at Red Rocks with 9000 capacity or two nights at Fiddler's with 17000 capacity. I'm gonna renew my warehouse membership if they announce any west coast dates. Only getting to see Dave solo at a political rally in October, while as great as it was, was just not enough. Anyone else think a small break after the east coast shows and then they'll be headed out west?

It was intentional. At most shows that tour he would say something along the lines of "we're just gonna have a nice peaceful evening together, so sit and relax".

Might be wishful thinking, which I hope it's not, but I've never seen a D&T show and am excited at the chance too no matter where it is.
