An Arkham movie would be so much fun.

Affleck actually knows what makes an interesting motion picture, he knows how to make an intelligent film with strong acting and writing. I'm very excited.

I love Deathstroke, probably my 2nd favorite comics character, but it's sort of weird that he'd be the main villain. He's more of an antihero in the comics, and he's not even a Batman villain. Batman's got the best rogues gallery in comics, sort of wish they'd pick from that instead.

I could see him in a supporting role working on behalf of a big mob boss type guy like Penguin. That would be pretty fun to see.

There is definitely a lot that can be done with Deathstroke in this universe. I can't get over that costume though, it's perfect.

Agreed - damn near identical to Arkham Origins which I really enjoyed from a costuming standpoint.

I certainly can't poo poo the notion of Deathstroke just right off the bat cause I know practically nothing about the character, but having said that... I've been very intrigued for a long time by the concept of them trying a very grounded, psychological thriller angle with using the Riddler as the primary villain in a Batman solo flick.

Batman Earth One: Vol. 2 shows how a really good Riddler story could be done.

I'd love to see a dark and demented Riddler, but would also love to see a Penguin done in the same vein as the Arkham games.

Pumped to see Deathstroke on the big screen. His appearance on Season 2 of Arrow was great, and it was a shame the way they treated his return in Season 3.

Being a hired gun, I could see him being the pawn for whatever big bad is pulling the strings behind the scenes. Deathstroke's loyalties begin and end at whoever is writing his checks. It would be absolutely awesome if the marketing campaign kept the string-pulling villain a secret throughout.

Pretty excited about this and the potential for a very physical set of fights and action sequences between them.

Apparently the solo Batman movie may be closer than we had originally thought; could be only 18 months out. Something about the timeline doesn't quite add up for me, but if they begin pre-production soon and production in March of 2017 then an October/November 2018 release may actually be feasible.

"Ben Affleck Says If The Batman Doesn't Come Together He Won't Do It"
    http://comicbook.com/2017/01/01/ben-...-he-wont-do-i/

According to a feature in The Guardian, Affleck said that the idea is for him to star and direct the picture but development has not been ideal.
"It’s not a set thing and there’s no script," he said. "If it doesn’t come together in a way I think is really great I’m not going to do it.”

I was really excited after BvS with the direction the DCCU was going, so I'm hoping this is just a speed bump.

yeah DCEU had a good thing going with MoS and BvS but it seems they're hitting 'speed bumps' with every film that follows, which is disappointing

The critical reaction has steered the direction unfortunately. They still made money on BvS, but not as much as they wanted or expected. I just don't think they ever had a clear direction. They saw what Marvel was doing and decided to jump on board with the same idea, but didn't want to copy it exactly. They went for a darker tone, it wasn't received well by critics because the studio cut it all up, and then they freaked out with Suicide Swuad, so that ended up messy, and now they're seemingly trying to go for more "fun". My guess is Affleck liked the original plan.

Great to read Ben Affleck has some integrity regarding the legacy of Batman and will not produce a sub-par project. On the flip side that worries me because we all know movie studios are willing to release shit projects anyway, as they did with Suicide Squad resulting in their latest train wreck.

Prior to this, I thought I had read Ben Affleck had already written a script. Maybe that was speculative or worse, the movie studios denied his creative direction. Judging from the article, the latter may be unfortunately true.
