Re: Why are people saying C'ville N2 had a bad set?
I thoroughly enjoyed n2.
Part of this was due to the experience- the best crowd I've ever seen, the marathon show lasting past midnight, the audibled bridge jam and ants at the end, the band playing as well as I've ever seen them, the lighting being extraordinary, even by DMB standards, Joe Lawler on Rhyme and Reason, a song being played from every DMB album (and Some Devil), and the whole idea of this being the culmination of C'Ville weekend. It was absolutely a unique and amazing show.
It was also my first time, despite this being my 14th show, hearing some great songs- Song That Jane Likes, What You Are, Last Stop, Say Goodbye, and Long Black Veil. All of which were played to the absolute best.
Could it have been better? Sure. I could live without hearing FTWII, Corn Bread, Write a Song, Why I Am, LITHOG, and Eh Hee again. Long Black Veil was great, and a first for me, but for a cover, I would rather hear the Maker, which I've also never heard. Throwing in a few of the songs a previous poster mentioned in his "night 3" post would have been great. Tripping Billies was a pretty glaring omission.
But the set never wrecked my night. I enjoyed every minute, from YMDT to Ants, and will fondly look back on this weekend for years to come, as soon as I drag myself out of Cville-induced poverty.
