***Official Nassau Coliseum Thread***

What no one started a thread for DMB's first trip to Nassau Coliseum.
10 min drive from the house, cant complain...
I know its no MSG, but could be a good set up show.

As a diehard Islanders fan, I can't believe I'm going to have to miss DMB at the Coliseum. It may be a shithole, but it's my shithole. Might have to make the trek home for this one.

Yeah, always a reader... been to I believe 38 shows off the top of my head.
Had to post when no one referenced Nassau Coliseum... yes as every Long Islander says, its a dump, but its our dump and wouldnt want it any other way.
Hopefully DMB can give our Isles some luck this season.

Unusual question here for all you locals.

By an amazing coincidence, I am flying in to JFK from Scotland on the Wednesday to run in the NT marathon on the Sunday. The flight arrives at 4.05pm, so do you think it will be possible to get from there to the Coliseum in time for the concert?

We will be part of a running group who will provide bus transport to downtown Manhattan, and I have been on a website which suggests trains go from Penn to Westbury fairly regularly (and take approx 40mins), and from there a taxi is about 10mins, so it all sounds perfectly possible to me.

Am I missing anything? I am presuming they will be on stage 8ish, as usual?

Fantastic start to our week in NY, getting up to Albany on the Friday will be no problem.

Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

You guys should def be fine... Dave on the summer dates got on around 8:45. Your right with your directions and predictions with timing. Around the time you get to Penn, there should be Trains to Westbury every 30 mins. There is also 2 restaurants in the basement of the Coliseum so you can eat some food.

Thanks for that there is an earlier flight from the UK, but the connections from Scotland down to London to catch it are very tight. This works much better, I just hope we don't get delayed too much getting through immigration control at JFK.

Hopefully we will see all of DMB, our 4th year to the States to see them, but a very unexpected chance to see them this time, I couldn't believe it when I got the e mail through from Warehouse late last night, I had only got my place confirmed in the NY marathon a few hours earlier. It must have been fate...!

Thanks again, let's hope it's a great night, they were certainly awesome in Europe earlier in the year.

i'm going to be at the coliseum for the show, but to be honest, i'm not getting my hopes up for an amazing show because they play the Garden for two shows the following week. just got that feeling of an average show, which i will still love though

JFK is a complete shithole. I would say it's probably the filthiest airport I've been to in America. It's really an embarrassment

if you must go to manhattan first, from jfk, then you may cut it kind of close. you'd have to get from downtown to penn, and then wait for a train to westbury. or you could take a train to mineola, since there are more trains that go there than westbury. a cab from mineola would be a bit further and more expensive, but for the sake of time, it might be easier for you depending on train schedules.

if you don't have to go into manhattan, you can take the air tram from jfk to jamaica station, and then take a train from jamaica out to either westbury or mineola, and you'd already be 20 min closer to long island than nyc is.

either way, you should be ok, but depending on luggage, if you have to go through customs, traffic, etc., you might be cutting it close if you go to downtown and then back out. 4 hours seems like a long time, but in reality, it goes quickly!

Why not have a traveling mate take your luggage and you split right from JFK to go to the show?

So Far the best show I saw there was The Wall in 1979, the only east cost venue where it was played. But DMB 2010 just has this aura of greatness ...
