We will be part of a running group who will provide bus transport to downtown Manhattan, and I have been on a website which suggests trains go from Penn to Westbury fairly regularly (and take approx 40mins), and from there a taxi is about 10mins, so it all sounds perfectly possible to me.
Am I missing anything? I am presuming they will be on stage 8ish, as usual?
Fantastic start to our week in NY, getting up to Albany on the Friday will be no problem.
Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

if you must go to manhattan first, from jfk, then you may cut it kind of close. you'd have to get from downtown to penn, and then wait for a train to westbury. or you could take a train to mineola, since there are more trains that go there than westbury. a cab from mineola would be a bit further and more expensive, but for the sake of time, it might be easier for you depending on train schedules.
if you don't have to go into manhattan, you can take the air tram from jfk to jamaica station, and then take a train from jamaica out to either westbury or mineola, and you'd already be 20 min closer to long island than nyc is.
either way, you should be ok, but depending on luggage, if you have to go through customs, traffic, etc., you might be cutting it close if you go to downtown and then back out. 4 hours seems like a long time, but in reality, it goes quickly!
