Sorry but saying a study on alpha and omicron means little in an omicron world is wrong because you cited no sources and as we've seen the new variants have not come close to even rendering the vaccines ineffective as seen as the multiple studies for severity, hospitalizations and deaths. Also effectiveness against say delta is absolutely relevant and important because when you are talking about virus that spread rapidly you absolutely want to be working from a lower base of infections when an even more infectious variant comes a long.

Sorry but we aren't talking about that. We are talking about how MOW said that a study about alpha and delta means little for omicron is just wrong. If he said that vaccines wouldn't be as effect against transmissions for omicron as against the previous variants that would be fine because the data says that the vaccine has some reduced effectiveness against new variants which is why they want boosters etc.

How much information do studies about delta/alpha provide for omicron-related transmissibility compared to omicron-specific studies:

A: More
B: Equal
C: Less

Yes it does. It in some cases can stop you from ever getting infected. What you are pointing out is that when you do become infected you are just as infectious as anyone else. But the study says it can stop vaccinated people from becoming infected. No infection means no virus shedding.

Instead, it’s the principle that the UKHSA identified above: if you don’t get infected in the first place thanks to a vaccine, you can’t spread it. Once you’re infected, you still can—although what we know about the window when you’re most likely to transmit the virus to others has improved.
