So, I'm from the U.S. and am buying a Volvo through the Overseas purchase program, which means Volvo will fly me to Gothenburg round trip, pick up the car at the factory, and I can drive it around Sweden. I was planning to do this around March.... butttt, now that I see DMB is in Stockholm, maybe I could plan the entire trip around that?
The question is, are there trains that go between the 2 cities frequently? I don't want to make the drive between them in my new car in February If I could go from Gothenburg to Stockholm for DMB, spend the night in Stockholm, and return to Gothenburg the next day, that would be ideal.
Anyone think this is doable, and at a reasonable extra cost? Volvo is paying for 3 nights hotel as well in Gothenburg, so I'd be on my own finding a place near the venue/train station in Stockholm.
Anyway, would love to hear what some people with a little more knowledge think about this. Thanks for your help!! And you can email me at erb.nathan @ gmail.com if you wanna help me more directly. Thank you!!

Congrats to purchasing a Volvo
There are trains frequently running between Gothenburg (Göteborg) and Stockholm. Don't know for sure but there are like 6 a day in each direction or something. The train ride with the fastest train, the X2000, takes about 3 hours. If you want cheaper tickets, you could opt for the Intercity trains that takes you there in 3h 30 mins > 5 hours. Hard to give you an estimate on the price but I made reservations myself for Feb 12-14th and I'm paying 1100 SEK (= 155 USD) for a roundtrip.
For more info on the train and tickets, visit http://www.sj.se/sj/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=10&l=en
Where are you staying in Gothenburg - what options does Volvo offer? I'm born and raised here and I'd be glad to give you some insight on places to stay if you're getting different options.
