So, I'm from the U.S. and am buying a Volvo through the Overseas purchase program, which means Volvo will fly me to Gothenburg round trip, pick up the car at the factory, and I can drive it around Sweden. I was planning to do this around March.... butttt, now that I see DMB is in Stockholm, maybe I could plan the entire trip around that?

The question is, are there trains that go between the 2 cities frequently? I don't want to make the drive between them in my new car in February If I could go from Gothenburg to Stockholm for DMB, spend the night in Stockholm, and return to Gothenburg the next day, that would be ideal.

Anyone think this is doable, and at a reasonable extra cost? Volvo is paying for 3 nights hotel as well in Gothenburg, so I'd be on my own finding a place near the venue/train station in Stockholm.

Anyway, would love to hear what some people with a little more knowledge think about this. Thanks for your help!! And you can email me at erb.nathan @ gmail.com if you wanna help me more directly. Thank you!!

Congrats to purchasing a Volvo

There are trains frequently running between Gothenburg (Göteborg) and Stockholm. Don't know for sure but there are like 6 a day in each direction or something. The train ride with the fastest train, the X2000, takes about 3 hours. If you want cheaper tickets, you could opt for the Intercity trains that takes you there in 3h 30 mins > 5 hours. Hard to give you an estimate on the price but I made reservations myself for Feb 12-14th and I'm paying 1100 SEK (= 155 USD) for a roundtrip.

For more info on the train and tickets, visit http://www.sj.se/sj/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=10&l=en

Where are you staying in Gothenburg - what options does Volvo offer? I'm born and raised here and I'd be glad to give you some insight on places to stay if you're getting different options.

The hotel they had listed is:

    Radisson SAS Scandinavia Hotel
    Sodra Hamngatan 59-65
    S-40124 Gothenburg

The train sounds like a great option. From the above hotel, and wanting to go as close as the venue in Stockholm as possible, what stations are the closest to each? Ideally the station/hotel I find/venue are all pretty close in Stockholm.

Thanks again for your help...this should be an amazing trip if I can pull it all off

The Radisson Hotel (****) is a great one which couldn't be located any better no matter what you're up to in the city. Also, from there you can see the train station from where you'll depart to Stockholm and it's no more than a 2 minute walk to get there.

Not that familiar with Stockholm so that I could give you a fair opinion on what you're asking but if you want to stay close to the venue, either the Quality Globe Hotel (***+) which is located inside the Ericsson Globe Arena - our National arena for hockey. Other than that any hotel on "Södermalm" is pretty close by. Either way, you'd have to ride the subway or grab a taxi from the train station in Stockholm in order to get to the hotel/venue.

Hit me up if you have any more q's. Always glad to help out a fellow ant

I saw on Livenation.se that Alberta Cross was supporting DMB on some of the European dates next year.

It said nothing about supporting band for the Stockholm gig, yet anyway.

The weather can be anything from like -5 degrees to +10 degrees. I'm planning for something like +2-4 degrees.

The easistet way to get into Stockholm from Arlanda Airport as I'm assuming you're using that airport is the express train, Arlanda Express, which runs like every 15 mins and takes 20 mins. Costs about 200 SEK one way if I'm not mistaken. Cabs are like 500 sek and the airport buses (I think they take roughly 40 mins) cost around 100 sek one way.

If you're flying Brussels Airlines you'll arrive at Bromma Airport which is the one closest to the city. This airport only offers you airport buses to the city or cabs. Don't know the cost though, sorry

Airport buses for all airports: http://www.flygbussarna.se/Default.aspx?lang=EN
I'll fly with Ryanair(cheaper), and will land at Skavsta Airport, 100km from Stockholm. I presume there'll be trains or buses to Central Station...
Thanxs for the help anyway, I know what to wear .

Yeah if you use the link I gave you on Flygbussarna (the airport buses), they have the schedule and costs for the trip from Skavsta to Stockholm as well
