Howie Day Appreciation Thread

there are many like it, but this one is mine.

and i searched with no results...

i was an Australia rep when they sent out a box of albums and asked that you help sell them on the street, campus, whatever...

he tends to get a bad name around here (worse than mayer if that's possible), but he really is a damn good songwriter. and his solo show is amazing.

i read he's been in the studio and recently did an Australian tour... has anyone heard anything about the new album?

Love me some Howie even though he locks up girls in bathrooms. Morning After is pure sex, so is Madrigals. I really wish he hadn't gone in his downward spiral or else him and Matt Nathanson would be touring together a lot more. That would just be perfect for me.

Dude, that'd be flippin' sweeeeet. I think Matt opened for Howie a ways back. I have a recording of Howie saying www.mattnathanson.com during his tune Buzzing.

I know he gets beat up around here, and I'm not crazy about SATWN, but I'm hopeful for the new album. Last time I heard anything it was suppose to be out in the spring time possibly.

i'd rather him do a solo tour soon. the band was sick, but i prefer his quiet looping over the band.

i've heard he can be a dick when his toasty, but so are most people. he's only been cool as hell when i've talked to him.

i'm really eagerly awaiting his new stuff, and i HOPE it doesn't end up on grays anatomy or desperate housewives...

Matt and him used to alternate who opened and who closed back in the day, I think. Buzzing is a great song. What show is that recording of his giving props to mattnathanson.com?

I have a date of 4.28.02 for the show in my iTunes and I'm pretty certain thats it. I unfortunately never saw Howie back around then, and hope to catch a solo show one of these days. Matt absolutely rocks his live show as a side note, but I'm sure you know that.

He does rock, I am just very unfortunate to never have seen him live ever. When he comes down here, usually something happens and I never get to see him.

i've always been a fan...really dug Australia and that time period. SATWN was a new direction for him...and I actually was into that for a while. Since his 'comeback' or whatever, i've seen him perform (only via youtube or his website) and he seems to not be into it.

i'll always listen to his old school shit tho. 6-22-01 was the first recording i got (opening for John Mayer) - that recording always make me

I saw Howie about a half a dozen times in 01-02 when he was solo. Great shows, really. I saw him and Matt Nathanson a few times in that span.

I also have a TON of excellent quality shows from that time period. Ghost still blows my mind sometimes.

I hope he doesn't just fall off the map completely. I really like him.

Dude is completely irrelevant nowadays. Hasn't had like anything probably since 2003-2004. ALthough that is a guestimation without actually looking anything up. He's not really my thing anymore, and the guy in person is a huge fucking douchebag, but at one time I enjoyed both his LPs and EP.

I used to be a big Howie Day fan. Saw him 4 times: 2 solo, 2 with the band. I always enjoyed his shows. I was at his Chicago Rep show in the summer of 04 at Schubas, there were like 30 people there and it was a dam good show

Streaming video of a Howie solo show from the recent tour in the land down under. I'd love whoever if they could rip the audio.

he still exists as a person? Even after that airplane fiasco?
which oddly came after his summer of getting booed on DMB tour. I remember the drunk guy next to me yelling "COLLISION!" throughout his whole set.

hey i was there! the crowbar is a sweet place, i was mad close.

howie was so cool solo. his band sucked and made his songs sound dumb and poppy. i also saw him solo at the orpheum in boston 10/16/04, which is kinda around when he was about to take a nose dive, and it was an awesome show.

    o well.
