This is pretty interesting.

AMC CANCELS ALL UNSCRIPTED SERIES EXCEPT TALKING DEAD AND COMIC BOOK MEN

AMC refocuses their efforts on the types of scripted dramas that put them on the map.

"In an attempt to return to the ground-breaking, acclaimed storytelling that made them famous, AMC is ditching all of its current (and future) unscripted/reality programming - except for Sunday night's post-Walking Dead shows Talking Dead and Comic Book Men.

The rest however, per THR - including the recently renewed Game of Arms, Small Town Security, and Freak Show - are gone. As well as the two Kevin Smith shows in the works (Hollywood Babble-On with Ralph Garman and a Robert Bruce comic collector series) and Chris Hardwick's upcoming Celebrity Bowling show.

“Scripted originals are at the core of the AMC brand. Iconic shows like Mad Men, Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead have driven AMC’s evolution into a must-have television network," an AMC spokesman said in a statement. "We are proud of our efforts in unscripted programming and the unique worlds we have been able to introduce, but in an environment of exploding content options for viewers, we have decided to make scripted programming our priority.”

I often wind up fast forwarding thru at least some portion of every episode, but I did check out the newest Comic Book Men thing this morning. I can't believe this is the 4th season already. but they had Kevin's daughter Harley Quinn in, she was escorted by Jay, like to do "research" for the Yoga Hosers movie. But first of all, now that she's a fully grown teen, a lot of that stuff with the rest of the guys behind the counter seemed kind of awkward... but I suppose they also could've edited it that way. But I don't really think she looks like Kevin Smith OR her mother at all, the Schwalback, or however you spell that.

Maybe it's my white guilt kicking in, or my love of Anthony Anderson (or maybe those are one in the same?) but I've been watching Blackish and I'm not hating it.

kinda cracks me up seeing how far he's come, to be such a supposed "legit" actor now. I remember years and years ago seeing him as a regular on one of those saturday morning, Saved By The Bell-type shows. The freaky thing is he really doesn't even look that much older now. he's aged very well.

I haven't watched last night's episode, but last week's was fucking hilarious. I am digging it too.

Expect to lose interest somewhat over the next few episodes but stick with it nonetheless. It starts well, plods along for awhile, and then finds its footing over the latter half of the season.

Definitely worth it though. One of the more underrated new shows this year.

Halt and Catch Fire had a pretty solid first season.

Somewhat of a lull in the middle, as Clay mentioned, but not too bad.

Something about Joe bugs me. Can't tell if it's a poorly written character or if I just don't care for the actor. Or both. But I don't like watching him at all.

Love Gordon. I think he's well written and I think the actor does a fantastic job.

Lee Pace is a fine actor. Joe is just one of the most poorly written characters on television. All the demons of Don Draper with none of the nuance.

    exactly right

I remember turning to my roommate during an episode and saying something to the extent of "I think the writers think this guy is as handsome / intriguing as don draper but he just isn't"

I have been so beyond impressed with what John Oliver has wound up doing this year since getting his own weekly show at HBO. They often do 15-20 minutes on just one story, and the amount of research and due diligence they put into it is crazy, he's really shone a light on a lot of varied and important situations. The "dog supreme court" from last night's show, I was almost in tears.

Wife and I are. I must admit it is a little creepy. They are doing a good job with that part of it. It is a new story each week, with only Dylan McDermott's back story the ongoing subplot. I see us sticking with it.

I think I'll probably check out the pilot for The Affair. supposedly it's a little True Detective-esque, that each of the main characters are separately talking to police, but you don't know why.

I never had any interest in Stalker to begin with, but most of what I've heard is that it was awful.

Umm, stalkers. Lol . McDermott joins a 6 man los Angeles unit that look into stalker cases. He has some baggage and his back story is the weekly subplot. The head of the unit is this hot Asian-white woman.

We also watched the affair last week. Definitely different the way it tells the store. We look forward to the second show, which was probably last night.

Can you tell I had back surgery 10 days ago. As if we weren't TV junkies already....
