I don't mind RSD in general, but I do mind the manufactured rarity of the releases

I wouldn't be a fan of this happening. I don't mind doing a RSD exclusive color like they did with RR, but press enough black copies later so that I don't have to get up at 4 am or pay out of the ass on eBay.

    I wouldn't say LWS definitely won't happen

As far as other ways to release limited/cool stuff; Vinyl Me, Please would be a nice avenue.

I'm going to be moving into a new apartment next semester, and I think I'm going to be putting my record player, receiver, and records in my room. I have all my stuff back at home in one of my dads bookshelves, so I was planning on getting this unit.

    http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/pr...465/#/60322465

Does anyone have anything similar? It says there is a tip over risk, but I think with my records on the bottom, and my receiver and player on top, it should right be good, right?

I'd recommend the Kallax if you're going the Ikea route. I have a few and love them

Yeah this is the way to go for sure. I have the Expedit (which is basically just like this one but the older model) and I love it, it's perfect for vinyl. I've got the one that's 4x2 (8 total shelves) and it's just about maxed out.

I was looking at that one, but I think it might be too wide. The bedrooms are small, and pre-furnished, so I'm a bit limited to space.

The Kallax is smaller than the Tomnas (30x30 vs 32x36); unless you mean its depth? The Kallax is ~15in deep, not sure what the Tomnas is

Yeah, depth is what I meant. The Tomnas looks thinner. I'm not sure if the player and receiver will fit on the top though. I need to measure everything. If the Kallax bulges out a bit more than the Tomnas, I should just go for the Kallax then.

I'd be shocked if LWS ever came to wax since it's never been officially released before.

I could see some of its tracks included as part of a larger compilation box set or something like that. But the whole thing as we know it now, I'm doubtful.

In its current form, neither would I. If there was ever an expanded super deluxe edition of Busted Stuff I could see maybe including them as supplemental bonus material but that's going to sound exactly like what we already have. If they revisit the project to finish it off with Lillywhite...

I have a lot of great records, but end up listening to kids/family friendly records often because of my kids. Especially so around different holidays. Rudolph and Charlie Brown, Nightmare Before Christmas and Ghostbusters, etc. I've been looking to expand the family friendly collection. Any suggestions?

Kind of upset that the dead release is still selling far above face. All the other dead releases sat around for a while after RSD. I am not a buyer yet but I hope it keeps dropping on eBay.

I've been watching a few other releases and they've started to come down the last two days. I'm trying to hold out another two or three weeks before I start really looking to fill in my wantlist.

The worst part is that 60s dead isn't even my favorite.

Emmylou Harris has released her 1992 Live at the Ryman today to help celebrate our 125th anniversary and the records 25th anniversary. Wanted to share here because this is arguably one of Nashville's more important albums, I believe this is the first american pressing of the record.

So I recently put rca "extenders" from my turntable to my receiver. A female to female adapter and a long cable running under the floor to the r never. I did not notice it when I initially installed it but now there is a clear buzzing sound. Could this be due to the connection? The rca cable? Or other? I installed the extension to hide cables due to our 6 month old crawling. The turntable is a bit of a distance from the receiver due to an inadequate setup.

It definitely could be, and likely is if you weren't hearing it prior to making that adjustment.

There's a 2" depth difference between those two shelves. The depth measurement on Ikea is pretty spot on for the Kallax (says 15 3/8"...I just measured mine and it's within 1/16" of that).

Like others have said, I'd recommend the Kallax. I have a 2x2 shelf just about full of records, and it's sturdy as hell. Records will fit fine on either shelf you're looking at, and your player should fit comfortably on either shelf. The receiver could be tricky though. FWIW, if my receiver was on the Kallax, it would end up hanging off the edge about 3 inches.

Picked up JP&BC Jones Beach on RSD. It sounds great. Wish they would have done the whole show on 3-4xLPs.

Anyone know how The Greek set sounds on vinyl? Is it worth picking up? I enjoy the CD.

Anyone know how The Greek set sounds on vinyl? Is it worth picking up? I enjoy the CD.
I've heard it sounds good. But I have no technical information to support that.

For those who are VMP subscribers, Fleet Foxes new album, Crack-Up, will be getting an autographed and colored vinyl release. It's not going to be the main VMP album for June though. Per Robin's Instagram.

Thanks for the response! I think my plans have changed a bit. My dad said if I use this small coffee table I have, he'll buy me a new receiver. I'll probably just get a couple crates for my records.

So far I have listened to dmb red rocks and Ben folds and waso from RSD. The Ben folds release is absolutely phenomenal
