Both great renditions. Loved when Chris, and The Avett Brothers sang Footsteps on Jimmy Fallon a few years back.

Suicide is "death by one's own hands"

Legally there is no distinction between accidental or not. Just like there is no distinction between a police officer having to kill someone in the line of duty and it being ruled a "homicide" (death by someone else's hand).

I'm hoping it was accidental rather than intentional suicide.

No it's really not safe to say anything, as today's events demonstrate. Andy had a heroin addiction, he wasn't depressed and while he was trying to get clean he certainly wasn't hiding anything.

Accidental death by autoerotic asphyxiation is typically listed as "accidental asphyxiation". We may never know. No one is disputing that this is a possibility, but you suggesting that his wife knew about it is a dick move, period.

You're assuming his wife sounded he alarm every show he didn't dial in after he got off stage.

Lucky I got to see a solo show of his last year. I was looking forward to seeing a lot more of his solo shows in the years to come. Brutal news today. Still can't wrap my head around it.

And YOU are assuming that a married man would be masturbating while looking at his wife. Are you stupid? Has any married man ever done that? He has access to tons of women yet he only gets off when he can see his wife?

I think we can all agree that as far as we know he died from some form of asphyxiation and it's been ruled a suicide. Beyond that it's really none of our business. So how about cutting the sh*t, move on and keep this thread a respectful remembrance of a well loved musician? Does every thread have to turn into a damn semantic pissing match? Chris Cornell passed away, respect his family, and if you're a fan remember him through his music.

Yeah, his wife apparently spoke with him after the show and he said he may have taken an extra anti-anxiety pill or two. Wonder if suicidal tendencies are some sort of side effect of that.

Christ, thank you. A lot of self-righteous people who need to fulfill their satisfaction of being correct on an internet forum are ruining this thread.

To add to this, if you have to know all the details of the man's death just wait until some actual news comes out. Quit with the assumptions and the theories. That's how rumors typically get started and incorrect news gets spread. Big problem these days with social media and news outlets that HAVE to get to the story first.

Having said all that...I haven't listened to this in years, and was completely taken back by it. What a great song. My band has a show tomorrow night and I will be performing and acoustic version of Black Hole Sun and tacking the chorus to this on the end.
