Tom Holland and Michael Keaton are great in it, and it's the best version of Peter Parker to date.
I've got a theory--about pretty much any movie, but it applies here--that the majority of folks go to a theater, see a movie once, get a quick first impression and then don't think about it any further, especially if it didn't quite work for them at first. Whereas on a second viewing, details and connections begin to come to light, and another round of consideration ensues, usually yielding an improved appreciation.
(Also, too many folks are hopelessly jaded by the time they reach adulthood. You really have to fight to keep a sense of wonder and enjoy something.)
I see this happen with music reviews, too. A critic goes in not expecting to like it, doesn't get immediately blown away, and churns out a tepid or negative review. But there have been so, so many albums that I listened to once and wasn't interested in, but months or years later I return to them, and something just *clicks* that second time around. Some of my all-time favorite albums happened that way for me.
