As I posted in another thread
here, we were all set to go see DMB in WPB when our 15 year old daughter's cancer relapsed and nothing was/is a sure thing moving forward. She has made a bucket list and literally the first thing on the list is "go see DMB". We shifted our treatment schedule around to allow for the best chance for us to be able to attend. I was trying to see if there was anything special we could do for her.
We ended up leaving the hospital Saturday morning and were at the concert, N1, the same day! Through help here and other channels we got the attention of the DMB team and found out on Saturday that Dave was willing to meet with our daughter before Sunday's show!
We kept it a secret from her until the last minute and when she found out she was sooo excited!! Everyone we dealt with was super nice. Dave came in the room and was so cool and down to earth. He spent a good 25 minutes talking with our daughter, super casual.
As they chatted she asked him if he would be willing to play Granny tonight and without blinking an eye he said sure that's easy. Granny ended up being the opener and she loved it! (I saw a few other post speculating on the reason for the last minute change
)
Lastly she gave him one of her purple #BeAlexisStrong wrist bands and he was happy to wear it. We weren't sure if it would stay on for the concert but were so giddy when we saw him still wearing it while playing that night!
I just wanted to share this story and thank Dave, his team, and this community for giving us such an amazing experience for our daughter and memory for us. She was over the moon with excitement and had the best weekend ever!
