Yeah. They announced WATM four months out and the LTs are usually 1.5-2 months out.

I wouldn’t be mad at this. Ideally, I would want those two performances as bonus tracks for a deluxe CD option (like AFTW) and then get a 2022 show earlier on in the tour as an LT.

Is it the fact that they toured in the fall with a still impending album which they hadn't done since 2000? Knowing that 1996, 98, 2002, 2005, 2010, 2012 & 2018 were all fall tours with completed albums (though 2010 the album was a year old)

i'm all for this idea

for 2012, i've said alpine box set in here enough times to fill a novel, so you all know my take.

but that year is VERY underrated. the emergence of the AFTW songs, boyd back on the not-electric, some really cool performances, stretched out Funny the way it is, dreaming tree, cool guest spots, etc. I'd be very happy with a few 2012 releases coming down the pipe in the next several years

You could tell they'd been doing some work right before the 2012 tour. Cuz when they started out that tour they had a pretty good pace and Boyd was actually quite good for that tour (I dunno if it it was focus or switching back tot he acoustic violin).

One of my favorite performances that year was Crush from SPAC N2. Boyd began his solo on his acoustic, broke string, switched to a plucking solo, then swapped to the electric violin and gave another solo. While he was plucking it was pretty funny as Dave walked over him and imitated playing a violin with his guitar on his shoulder.

Just remembered too that N1 of SPAC, Boyd didn't pluck like he normally does and just sawed on through it.

People bitch about that tour, but I enjoyed the summer shows I went to a lot (SPAC & Deer Creek). Fall tour did blow hard though.

As for the Alpine shows, its been heavily hinted plenty that a certain guest for those is the reason for them not being released.

That couldn’t stop it. They have had guests several times before (James brown, Joshua Redman, David Hidalgo + Steve Berman from Los Lobos, Maceo Parker, Bela Fleck, Warren Haynes, Carlos Santana, Ivan Neville, Robert Randolph, Greg Allman)
Unless he has a contract that doesn’t allow any live releases (his own or guest appearances)

James brown was already dead when his appearance (LT40) was released.
Is he the only one who’s appearance was released after he had died?

Seems like a no brainer to bundle a 2022 show with a few of the new tunes with the album. Juice sales for both.

If they're not bundling a bonus disc with pre-orders for WATM, then they're not going to include a bonus disc with a LiveTrax released this spring/summer.

I'm not saying they will never release a bonus disc again, but it's foolish to hope for a bonus disc with the next LiveTrax.
