Will potential Covid protocols impact your attendance this year?

This is NOT a political discussion please keep that shit in the prompter and covid threads in nDMBc.

Does your attendance at shows this tour depend on potential protocols in anyway?

Poll coming.

This thread was approved. You can state your reasoning, but keep it civil and on topic. If it turns into a political debate, it will be locked. As dd36 said, take that shit to the Prompter.

Hint: If you are arguing what venues and states, or anyone else, SHOULD do, you're doing it wrong.

Protocols will not keep me from attending. As always, the setlists will determine if I buy a ticket or not.

Re: Will potential Covid protocols impact your attendance this year?

Covid protocols will not affect my decision at all. I am vaccinated, so I am comfortable being around people again with no protocols. However, I am not opposed to any protocols the venue wants to take. If required, I will show proof of my vaccine and/or will wear a mask where required. I'm not going to let a mask requirement stop me from seeing music this year.

I'm in the exact same boat. Though I'd go even if I wasn't vaccinated. I got it simply to go to events like this if required.

    Same.

It'll be annoying if I have to wear a mask, though. I'll do it. But it'll be annoying.

That being said, we'll probably have to wear masks.

The "except while eating or drinking" exception makes the requirement pretty hollow. The only time I don't have a beer in my hand at a show is when I'm waiting in line for the next one, and during that time, I'll happily put on a mask.
I think the only real expectation will be while you're interacting with staff (merch, food, beer, gates etc...) or in the bathrooms. I just don't see ushers patrolling the seats and telling people to mask up; certainly not the lawn.

Honestly, for me, even if there is not a mask mandate I'd probably wear one most of the time at the show. Course that could change on circumstances come show time.

As someone with social anxiety I've loved mask wearing, makes me much more comfortable in public.

Re: Will potential Covid protocols impact your attendance this year?

Depends what the protocols are and how strictly they are actually enforced.

I will attend even if masks are required, but im not super excited about standing in the summer heat with my face covered, but ill do it if it means music again.

Can I mingle with strangers without the social distance police busting me? If I can, then im in. But if i have to look over my shoulder everytime I wanna spark conversation or a doobie with some cool random hippies, then I may be out this round.

Now, Pod shows? No way. Ill happily stay home if thats how its gonna be. Fuck that noise all day long. Completly defeats the purpose and wrecks the vibe (for me).

I would love pods. The only people allowed to be near me are my close friends that I came with? The chatty assholes have to stay in their own pod and away from me? Sign me the fuck up. I'll see everyone else at the tailgate.

As of now it won’t affect my attendance, but it depends on where we’re at in September

Re: Will potential Covid protocols impact your attendance this year?

My answer is a little more complicated than the above, but I think a lot of it depends on where we are as a country when the time hits - regarding how many people are vaccinated and what COVID case counts look like.

We have an autoimmune child who would die if getting COVID, and as we know - it can still spread outdoors, even if there is a very, very small chance of it.

I'll say this - I would feel comfortable going if there are negative tests required at the gate (instant tests), or vaccine cards are required to be presented.

And if I go, I'll wear a mask, because I always wear one when I'm not at home. Moreso because I care more about others in case I do somehow get COVID and spread it (I'm vaccinated, but vaccinated people can still get and spread it).

But also, as Matt says, I'd love pods. I'm only going to one show (assuming protocols are in place), and I wanted to bring my teen daughter to her first show. It's in Arkansas, and we are doing very poorly in terms of vaccination, and it's a very red state so we don't have a lot of people embracing safety factors. But pods, I'd be all over that. To keep everyone 6' away from us.

I completely get this sentiment but for me a large part of the experience is the collective....something deep down really bothers me about being locked in a little box/cage surrounded by thousands of other boxes/cages.

I don't think there are literal boxes/cages for pods. It's just a grouping of 4-6 chairs.

But I do get your enjoyment of the crowd experience. I just spend too much time in the GA environment moving away from people who are talking over the show.

Even if it wasn't COVID, I'd gladly pay for a pod. To not have people spilling beers on me and blowing their weed-smoke in my face.

Oh, to be clear, I'm fine with weed and legalization and all that. I just don't do it.

It's like people who vape, I'm fine if you vape, but I don't want your big cloud of Cotton Candy Root Beer Dr Pepper Bubble Gum Jolly Rancher smoke blown my face.

Same here. We’re doing a pod show for Goose in May, and all your food/drink and merch is ordered through an app and delivered to your pod. It seems wayyyy better than being crammed on a lawn or in a pit, or worrying about your seat-neighbor who had too much to drink or is trying to sneak extra heads into your row.

I like the music part of concerts. I could do without the rest of the people involved

Right? I mean, I understand what people say about the whole “collective” and whatnot; the energy of a crowd. But this is 2021 DMB, we know that in reality the crowd is a mix of hardcores there for deep cuts who are definitely going to be deflated when Bayou opens and YMDT closes, with a Shake Me encore - and then a lot of casuals just there to get as wasted as possible. Those casuals are the large majority at most of these stops at this point, and they’re the folks who make lawn seats completely unenjoyable when they can’t control themselves or hold their booze.

I’m not necessarily a seat snob - I just am a crowd snob I guess

I saw them for the first time at SummerCamp 2019 at like 3AM in this little ass side tent. they were literally the only show happening at that point becasue the rest of the shows had been scratched due to the crazy storm that had rolled in. So there we were, peaking and packed into this little tent and here comes this band ive never heard of, blowing my effing mind. I asked my friend Mike where this Goose was from and he turns to me and says "I dunno man....Canada?"

    Great damn times

Re: Will potential Covid protocols impact your attendance this year?

I’d go, and not worry about others being vaccinated. I know someone who has gotten both shots and still end up getting COVID. So unfortunately I’m in the mindset of not if, but when I’ll get it.....and shots being an annual deal.

I’ve been wanting events like concerts to be back for quite a while, and with my son loving DMB, I can’t wait to get him to his first concert....but of course will try to be as safe as possible while there.

Covid and protocols have nothing to do with why I won't be going. The shows the band has been doing for the last five years or so are why I'm not going.

I’m going to this show and many others without hesitation but I have already been vaccinated.
