This? http://dmbalmanac.com/TourShowSet.as...=22&where=1998

I've only been around 2009-now, but I've literally never heard that before. Not saying you're wrong, it's more of - wow I still have a lot to learn about the band, ha.

I don't like it. I never have. But it's not because the solos were overdubbed. Tons of bands do that on live shows. Grateful Dead did it! If they overdubbed it and the solos were off timing due to a careless person mixing it, that would be an argument.

It doesn't matter if it's .o1, .0001, or .00000000000001 It matters that it's very noticeable..

This is like arguing over FLAC vs Hi Res MP3. we're not going to get anywhere. It's obvious you don't notice it enough to care. I do.

I always found it odd that with so many shows to choose from they select a show where they ask Boyd to re record a solo

    And I love LiC

You are a loser. I’m a musician too () , it’s BARELY noticeable. The solo in FTWII is the only blatant section in the whole show. And honestly, it just sounds like Boyd had a rough solo which we all know is common.

Listen to Satellite, it’s on point with the rest of the instruments. You haven’t even listened to this show

    Anyways.....

Damn this Beach Ball sounds great. Such a good song. Probably the only thing I will frequently be coming back to from this release.

Billies solo is also really bad. Not Boyd personally, but the delay again.

I'm guessing they planned to release that show all along no matter what. I've always wondered what would've happened if Boyd shit the bed at the Central Park show, with how much production they put into it.

You gotta calm down dude. People like this LT, people don’t like this LT. Give it a rest. There’s a delay on Boyd in the mix. Great. Some notice, some don’t. Just stop trying to demean people for enjoying this release. Cheers.

Are you the designated spell checker on the boards? Iím on a phone and donít really care. Also why are you only commenting on my responses? There have been many people engaged in this conversation.. thatís why weíre here right? To get into conversations about trivial things like the mix on a live show release? Thereís not much else to discuss. So if youíll excuse me Iíll get back to it now.

We can all put it to rest. Is Boyd's track off, apparently yes. Do I like this release, yes. Does HonestDenver no. And that's ok.

The preview to Spaceman on the site is literally just the band doing nothing before the start of Spaceman. You hear no part of the song lol.

Wow this two step is pretty damn good. I wasn’t really looking forward to this show but am enjoying it quite a bit. Tripping Billies sounds great too and I actually like this full band Rye Whiskey. Not a terrible pick I guess.

I don't think this show is one that's ever going to crack or even sniff a favorites/best Live Trax consensus, but if you actually listen to the show its fun and quite a good one. The pace and performances are probably the most ideal sound you'd want from this formation of the band.

People tend to think of racing through songs and an overbearing electric guitar hiding a skreeing violin with this lineup, but it wasn't always that way and this release might actually remind people that at its best, this lineup was pretty damn terrific.

very well put. This is an example of what this lineup did well before they went full rock.

I’m going through LT 35 again to get a comparison. It’s a better show but I still think the mix of LT 55 is better

    /thread

releases like this do have their place in the catalogue. Good for a day where you are looking for something random/off the beaten path.

Well said about the lineup too. I LOVE the first few years of 3.0. 2008-2011 is amazing stuff in my book. Performances started to slip a little bit in 2012 but 2012-2014 is still really good, imo. But I am a Tim Reynolds nut, so I don't mind the "overbearing" electric guitar.

Re: Live Trax 55: Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre 4.29.09

Finally listened. I enjoy cracking into some of that early Big Whiskey. This definitely represents a MOMENT in the bands' career. Whether you like where that moment led or hate it, I dont really care.

But it's fun to hear stuff early. I like the cadence of the set. Jeff is great throughout - especially on Jimi (but that's no surprise). Rye Whiskey, Beach Ball, The Maker are all enjoyable moments to keep you moving through the show.

I was listening while i worked so didn't listen closely for Boyd missing queues (spelling?) but didn't notice any flubs. Dave's voice isn't great, but it's 2009 - nobody was expecting it to sound great.

Overall: I will throw on LT35 more, but I'm glad I grabbed this one
