The vent holes on the kettle are too big. It’s like I’m throwing a hot dog down a hallway.

That's why it's adjustable. Don't overcook your hotdog though.

Wait, vent holes? Is that what those are for? I thought they were for dropping in hot dogs and brats without opening the lid.

Here’s how the ribs turned out. Got some good smoke on them. Had some lessons learned, tough to regulate the temp but next time should be easier.

House we rented for the weekend had a big green egg. Wasn’t on the list of amenities, so I didn’t come prepared.

We just used the gas grill. Too much effort to go out and find supplies and smokable meat in the middle of SE Ohio and my wife wasn’t crazy about being left alone with the babies while we are on vacation.

Throwing 4 pork loins on the Traeger once we get home.

My FIL has a Green Egg and he cooked a brisket on it and good god, that thing was amazing. I'd really like to invest in one but they're so damn expensive. I just can't justify $1,000 on a grill/smoker.

Here are my after shots. Best I’ve ever made.

Charcoal might have been a little too hot but that’s hard to judge for me some times.

Maybe 1.5 hours on the Webber, then lots of sauce and covered tight and 1.5 more in the oven at 275.

I’m going to try and smoke a pork shoulder on a gas grill tomorrow. Got a smoke box. Any tips? I keep seeing like 1.5 hours per pound at around 250.

And yes I already know I have a vagina because of the gas grill, I’ll pick up some tampons.

Fuck that, I've got a gas grill and a new gas smoker and everything I cook is delicious.

    Really need a thermometer, IMO.

If you wrap once it stalls out it will get done quicker but the bark gets soft. I don’t wrap and usually see 10 to 12 hours on the smoker.

Need an internal temp of around 200 and for the bone to feel like it can be pulled out cheap to be done.

My dad bought me the Costco version of the Weber S-335 as a house warming gift. Same as the S-335 but it comes with a cover, that Bluetooth thermometer set and the lighted knobs. Lighted knobs are a gimmick but the IGrill Bluetooth thermometer is a game changer. We put it together right before the 4th and I’ve used it no less than 10 times . I’ve never been satisfied with my cooking until I put these thicccc filet mignons on the other night. This grill has definitely given me a new outlook on the quarantine.

Nice! Yeah a good grill makes all the difference. I've been grilling this year more than ever, especially since I got my new one in May.

I bought a new ignitor this week after thinking all it needed was a battery last time, having that work for a few weeks, failing again, then getting by using a manual lighter the last several meals. Gonna try to bust into that project this weekend.

All of this... except, I do wrap. Saves on fuel. Wrap when it hits 160 then let it ride til 200.

Oh, and don’t soak your chips!

Grilled marinated, dry-rub tenderloin on my own version of a Traeger Grill. Saved myself hundreds of dollars. HINT: Hardwood. Only thing Traeger did different was make it more fool proof with pellets and fancy electronics like wi-fi and remote control.

Do you get good bark wrapping? Butcher paper or foil?

I only wrapped one and the bark was mushy.

Foil. Gotta wrap it really tight and fat side down. The bark will still get soft but shouldn’t be mush. It’ll also tighten back up when it’s resting with the foil open.

I’ve tried butcher paper but it doesn’t seem to really speed things up so I don’t get what people love about it.

I setup my shitty, broken down, has a wooden leg screwed to it canopy in the side yard so I could put my miter saw under it while I was working on some trim. Dragged it around to the driveway the today to use the smoker... wife comes out and gave me the ol ‘oooooh, hell no!’

Had to go pull out the ‘nice’ one.
