Everything Everywhere All At Once really had me inspired over the weekend and I think that helped push me over the top to get started.
Posted this back in April. Finally out of the development stage on this project and actually started writing it over the weekend. Wrote Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Walked away from football around 5p yesterday as the late window was coming to a close and wrote until roughly 8:30p last night.

Just gotta keep after it. As my college instructor once said, writing needs to be a dirty habit like smoking cigarettes. No one is going to come between you and your nicotine hit.

Aiming for 500-1000 words a day.

Damn, that's a good quote. Reminds me of the folks in AA that would tell me to treat my sobriety the way I treated my alcoholism; rain/sleet/snow/hail I went to the liquor store, so I should do the same for meetings.

Anyway, cheers on your writing dude

Ah, that's really good too. I like those turn of phrases that attempt to rewire the way you think about something.

Thanks, Eric! It's quite startling how much better I feel actively working on a creative project compared to when I'm just working and hanging out day in and day out.

Re: What made you happy today?

Started as a sci-fi/cyberpunk story that has evolved more into a real world story that's anchored by a student/mentor relationship. If you're familiar at all with "The Reader" by Bernhard Schlink, the relationship between Michael/Hanna is similar to what I am working towards as the centerpiece of the mentor/student relationship in my story. Grey characters who all have flaws and carry deep scars from their line of work. Convoluted and toxic relationships that slowly reveal themselves over time. I'd by lying if I didn't admit that some of it is me exorcising some personal pain and demons through the work.

It's shaping up to be a novel, which is already a little different for me as in my past creative life I wrote scripts and short fiction.

Id be happy to share some chapters if you or anyone else has interest down the line to get notes.

Actually this is yesterdays happiness. Dodgers eliminated from the playoffs and our "drama queen" at work quit. And, I'm starting my 2 week vacation. Going to crack open a Reno as Fuck beer a little later.

i remember reading an article about a someone who taught a writing class and split the class in half. one half just wrote anything and everything, just get it out all out no matter how good or bad it is. the other half focused on writing one thing as best as they could. in the end, the group that wrote as much as they could, their good stuff was better material than the group that only had to write one thing. so just write. diarrhea of the brain. you can always go back and rewrite stuff if you think it sucks. the most important thing is to just get something written.

I just got a signed copy (of 1868 signed copies) of my favourite author's newest book. My shelves got bigger and that makes me incredibly happy.

Starting to be able to sing again which is one of my favorite things to do, last two months or so my throat has been absolutely awful, painful, hoarse all the time. I couldn't think of anything I did from singing that would make it that way, turns out it's from acid reflux which has never been an issue before, couple changes / medicine and feeling better.

I started a thread on Reddit 5 years ago looking for 3 things. One was given immediately, but this year I found two of them. I now have a few holes in my favourite author collection filled up. To say I'm happy is an understatement.

We have something like this that was helpful

And then more recently when we moved our laundry room I turned the old laundry room into a mudroom and built this bench with shoe cubbies.

I kept trying to coordinate a way to watch a Cowboys game with my dad and grandfather since it seems to be more difficult for that to happen as time passes. Well we finally settled on watching the game at my dad’s yesterday

There was a newer Ford Escape with paper tags in the driveway so I asked my dad if it was a rental for work. My grandfather walks up and said no, it’s yours. I was ready to ball my eyes out. I had been saving for a new car after a bad accident last year. It’s like a hangover of emotions this morning. But very much among that hangover is happiness.

it doesn't matter, no. it doesn't need a deeper meaning, you're correct. I was asking if it had a deeper meaning or if you just liked the design but I guess I'm sorry for asking questions about the artwork you chose to display on the exterior, where people can see it, and then posted about it here.

If asking about it sets you off buddy I have got some news for you about tattoos....
