Still haven't got a shipping email - probably means it will not be here before Christmas

Haven’t gotten mine either and they’re notoriously slow. Never mind the USPS backups right now on top of that

I think it's 100% worth those adjectives. I did figure correctly that those who'd never heard this before, but have heard hundreds of other DMB recordings, may be underwhelmed because it's not something new. In 1999, when I first heard this bootleg, I'd never heard the Two Step improv intro, I'd never heard a full band #41, I'll Back You Up with Stephan's solo was new to my ears and it was exciting. This show is a great show front to back and it's worth every bit of high praise it received when it was announced.

I always want to hear the crowd. It doesn't need to overpower the band/instruments, but I like to hear their reaction when a song starts, when they sing certain parts of songs, like Everyday, or the "people in every direction" during ants. In my opinion, a release should reflect/portray the whole show, which includes the crowd.

When LT 38 (SPAC ‘96) came out, there are multiple comments in that thread criticizing how the loud the crowd noise is on some songs. I haven’t heard that release, so I have no comment. Seems like there is a balance to strike

Eh, a difference of opinion. I’m not saying it’s not a solid show, just was underwhelming for me.

Order still hasn’t even shipped from warehouse. So much for a 12/11 release

Probably how I’ll feel about 7/7/12, if and when we ever get that. I understand.

Per usual the overhype killed this release.Similar to LT 50.. both are in sub par LT's for me.. Per usual, the elite dmb fans think this is some holy grail show, when something like LT 52 blows it out of the water... I'm done listening to you. You're like an election poll, you think you're in a position to know something and you're just wrong...

I agree with this. LT 52 was the best release this year IMO. 51 was a close second. Personally, I wish Alpine 2012 would hurry up and get released in full both nights and then they should open up the vaults from 2013 because almost every damn show was unpredictable that year and those setlist are the most creative by the band. Plus, the performances were spot on. The band had it that year.

Re: Live Trax Vol. 54: Cow Palace (11/9/20)

I think 51 is one of the most pointless LTs. We really didn’t need anymore 2007 imo. That Seek Up is really good though.

52 is fun. Not a great main set, but I do like the two set acoustic tours. However it doesn’t come close to 98 or 96. Not even close.

53 is a solid 98 show, but we do have much better sets from that year. Still, more 98 material in the Live Trax series is always a plus.

54 is the best Live Trax since LT47&48. The show is a special listen. Listening to it with some decent headphones put me right there at the Cow Palace. I haven’t gotten that from a listening experience in a while. Dave is putting out so much emotion in this one in Two Step, #41 and Minarets especially. This show contains the first Help Myself in the LT series since 8.18.93. First with a Minarets since 4.5.95. First with What Would You Say since 5.5.95. It’s the first we have with Dancing Nancies closing the show. It’s also the only complete Minarets » Typical Situation we have a multitrack release of (which is one the bands greatest segues)

I haven’t noticed anyone mention the interior artwork on the CD. It’s a screen print of an after show party from 11.9.96. It has the old school dancing 8 graphic, it really helps in bringing you back to ‘96. If someone could tell me how to post a picture, I’ll show. It’s damn cool.

My favorite crowd reaction is when SU&D kicks in on the 2007 Summer Sampler album. That is the sound of minds being blown and expectations being surpassed...

I just received my shipping notice a day or so ago, for an order placed on Black Friday. Also separately ordered the vinyl LTs, and they shipped much earlier but are still stuck in a USPS black hole in Virginia. Shipping seems to be a total mess everywhere.

My order just arrived and they sent me LT47 instead of LT54. I placed an order for four items and this was the only one they got wrong (and naturally the one I was most excited for)

Man. I feel your pain. This has happened to me a lot over the years but it happened to me with LT 52....they sent me 51 instead. They were absolutely no help at all. They made me send a photo of the wrong one they sent and email them. Then you have to wait for them to email you a return label and they won’t ship the correct one until they receive back the wrong one they sent. I can’t stand musictoday. I understand mistakes happen but they act like it’s the customer’s fault. Call them today. Don’t bother emailing.

They messed up my LT 50 last year as well. Sent me LT46, I think. I emailed my complaint and they sent me a new 50 -- which took about 2 more weeks to arrive, so much for a pre-order.

They asked me to return the LT46 when I received my 50. LOL yeah I didn't send them back anything. Get your overpriced crap together, MusicToday.

I finally got my copy this morning as a Christmas gift. Can’t wait to find time to give it a spin.

Anyone have a review on the overall quality of this release? Is it better than 53?

Are you asking us to rate the sound quality?

"Overall quality" is just too subjective. If you love the songs on this setlist, you're just to have a much higher opinion of this album than if you dislike some/many of the songs on this album.

I would not rank it as one of the 10 best DMB live albums. The songs are performed well, and some songs are performed very well, but I don't think there's anything about the performances that will make you love songs that you normally don't love.

I think anyone that does rank it as one of the best live albums would be doing so because it's there perfect setlist.
