LT38 seemed like it was a lackluster set but it's played to near perfection and is one of my favorite LT's. Really strong Seek Up and #36 from that show. I trust they're making a good choice with this release, regardless of the set.

There's really no weak spot in this set.

Okay, I gotta know. How do we know most of the tapes from 98 are lost? I’ve heard the rumors about Red Rocks 98 n1, is that the only pre fall 98 show that’s been rumored for release? This is the first I’ve heard about that period being possibly unavailable for release. It’s making me sad.

It's not "most." But it seems it was a wild west. Multiple places that tapes were stored, some of the multi-tracks are missing, some were taken home and might be in someone's closet or boxes. But flat tapes exist like 11/30/98 that was released. The big one most talked about that I've seen in a few places missing is Giants 1998.

Anything different than stale sets of songs we have 50+ releases of already.

I get it, 98 was fire, but I won't listen to it and think to myself "man this sounds so much better than Worcester, chicago, and philly". It will sound similar to me.

Sadly where i'm at with this band.

They won't get my money until it's something unique.

I haven't bought a DMB release in years for a lot of the same reasons, just too much of the same things I've already listened to for decades. Also Copperpot videos cover so much of it already. I'll always love going to shows though and wish I had flown out to Seattle today which was the original plan.

It does seem like a random throw the dart and see what date it hits release.

    But it’s 98, so I’m content.

If this is all based on facts, then it's depressing that they're missing as many '98 shows as they are.

I'd never even heard this rumor. I was at that show and it is insanely good. Pouring rain for the first half of the show led to setlist changes and some incredible performances.

When we’re there rumors about Red Rocks N1 98 being released? Was that in recent years? Or like 10-15 years ago?

This show looks bad ass. Would take this as a release in a heartbeat. Great venue and great set. Look at this middle run.

There's also exactly eight songs (not including True Reflections) played on N2 that aren't repeats from N1. Perfect for a bonus disc.

Just pre-ordered 53 on CD. It's cool they're throwing the free sticker in there if you order a physical copy.

5.16.02 was a great show. I am biased because I was there, but of the 25 shows I have seen, it is amongst my favorite. That Watchtower with Warren was incredible.

The fact that it's shipping on October 6, faster than usual, tells me they'll try to squeeze a holiday release in too.

I've got a feeling this one's gonna be sneaky good. I haven't heard this show personally, but I think it's going to blow us away. Will probably be underrated/over-looked by the masses, but in 10 years or so when we're looking back at the first 100 LTs, I think this one will finally get the respect it deserves.

...unless they screw up the mix, in which case it'll suck

Found it interesting they posted this on their social media platforms. Did they not have the master tapes of this show prior to 2020? "...this 11.2.98 concert is a new found gem."

Well, according to people here, they are missing shows they knew they had taped (band-members taking tapes home, what have you) from their vault (specifically '98 shows).

It's going to take them much longer than 10 years to reach LT100. It took 16 years to get to LT53.

Maybe? If you look at the volume of live releases from the Band over the last 4 full years ('16-'19) there are 21 things that have been released. Some have been non-LT releases, but would assume most will be LT from here on out since DMBLive doesn't seem to be happening at moment. If you take the rate of 5 releases per year, you would have 50 releases over the next 10 years which "could" get them to LT 100 in that period.

Not saying it is going to happen, but I'd bet that they will...especially if you assume they'll stop touring as much by the end of that 10 year period and will only have releases to generate new revenue from.

    My 2 cents....Vacubsfan

They typically do 4 LTs per year. After 2020, we should be at 54. If the trend continues, we could have LT100 coming sometime around 2031.

    2021 - 58
    2022 - 62
    2023 - 66
    2024 - 70
    2025 - 74
    2026 - 78
    2026 - 82
    2027 - 86
    2028 - 90
    2029 - 94
    2030 - 98

Same! I'm just as excited for this one as I was for 47 and then again for 48 (which is one of my favorites from the entire series). I have a good feeling about it; I think 53 is going to be a really cool under-the-radar type show with some stellar versions.
