What would you want in the 25th Anniv. package of BTCS?

My understanding of it is that *something* did indeed get shelved due to the leaks of Batson Sessions in 2018, but that doesn’t mean it was BTCS20.

I do, however, believe the intent was to release a BTCS 20th package in 2018, and that obviously never happened.

Hopefully it was just something normal that hung up the re-issue. The leaks are just missed opportunities...get ahead of it. If they released any of that material in an official capacity, most of us would pay for it. This material is in the wild now, might as well get paid for it.

It is amazing to me the amount of shit ppl pull out of their ass on here and say it so confidently as if it’s fact We have no idea what anyone in band/mgmt think of the Batson Sessions leak bc nobody ever talked about it.

I think MAYBE Mark Batson made some cryptic IG post about it but that’s about all I can remember. Maybe Fonz made a couple tweets about it.

If I had to make an educated guess why they skipped the 20th anni, it’s prob because CT was coming out and they didn’t want one item overshadowing the other.

Also, if I’m remembering right now, Batson Sessions didn’t leak till much later in 2018… the decision to skip the 20th anniversary had long been made up before that.

Why would the Batson sessions leak have anything to do with BTCS20? I’m asking in regards to the pettiness of the management and or band.

Just seems so dumb. We’re the only fan base that’s punished for liking stuff

Correct. They leaked in late October 2018. We surely would have had a notice about BTCS vinyl reissue by then if it were coming out that year.

I think it was a very small minority that were upset, they just happened to be very very vocal. And had no understanding about splattered vinyl and marketing mock-ups. Probably didn't intend to play the records either. I recall the black vinyl being universally praised for how good it sounded.

Why did BTCS get released initially on vinyl while Crash did not? I'm not versed with when the vinyl media started to decline but they were pressing things in the 90s. I would have thought DMB was big enough that Crash could have seen a vinyl release in 96.

I can't believe they did a 20 yr press for Crash and not a 20yr reissue for BTCS. 25yrs would be April 2023.

I don't care about extras, I think they could do a full 180g press and have it be like $100 with a fold-out poster or some shit and a TON of people would buy it. The OG BTCS vinyl sell used for like $600-800.
Maybe a couple special color pressings of 500 or 1000, but those would almost all get swiped by bots, so probably just a special WH edition and a public edition.
As long as it's 180g from the original masters I'm buying it.

It would be more of a marketing push back then. Vinyl was on life support then, so to spend the capitol on a production run there needed to be faith that it would sell. With Crash, the label likely just didn't consider it out of hand, but maybe they were still on the fence of whether or not lightning would strike again. In hindsight, we know it did and would for every album thereafter. By and large, vinyl pressings in the 90s were either sure things or pet projects by those with clout.

Listening to Grey St. Pods interview with Sam Erickson, I think this is happening. Sam alludes to more studio footage and how he's been revisiting things that are 20 and 25 years old as his "current" projects.

The main thing I would like in a 25th anniversary pack of BTCS is a vinyl copy of BTCS taken from the original masters. Everything else is icing.
