So glad Brad K didn’t win. Cindric is going to be really good I think. Solid 500, 7/10 for me.

I think Cindric is more Trevor Bayne or Derrick Cope than a future Champ.

To each their own, but I don't see that being the case at all. He's an XFinity Series champion who was handed the keys to one of the most prestigious rides in NASCAR by one of the greatest owners in all of motorsports history.

That just doesn't scream flash in the pan to me. It's hard as hell to win a championship, but he's much more likely to be in that conversation moving forward than be a guy who you only expect to see in contention at superspeedways, especially considering how impressive of a road course racer he is.

This new car is supposed to level the playing field a bit too, right? Make it so the lesser funded teams can actually compete.

I'm interested to see if they tweak the new car any after yesterday. The composite bodies held up well all things considered, but it looks like they may have a nasty issue with the tires. A flat tire seems to pretty much end your day at least from a competitive standpoint. Cindric had to have fresh tires put on just to make it to victory lane and Logano lost 3 laps from flat spotting. I saw others with similar issues.

    Not a follower…but it’s all Ford.
    Mustangs led the the pack.
GM had a Camaro running in the back and a lone Toyota.

This is just wishful thinking, IMO. How do you compete with the big boys when you’re all buying the same off the rack parts and leasing engines from them. You also have to deal their simulator budget being than your season budget.

The first time I ever saw him he was running DFL in the Indycar feeder system while running for the best team.

Plenty of guys in Cup because of who their dad is. Hard to imagine anyone other than Dillion having a longer leash.

Right, so that's obviously the advantage. The big teams can spend millions on the testing and tuning. I was speaking more about it mechanically.

This is correct, it's why there was an uptick in smaller teams this season. It's probably more difficult navigating the charter system right now as a new team than showing up to Cup races each week. Denny Hamlin even had trouble finding a second one for Kurt and I'd consider them a major player now.

The one downfall of making the leap to cup easier is that the Xfinity series will take a hit. Penske is now out, Kaulig made the leap to cup this season full time (they kept their Xfinity team for now,) GMS left Xfinity to partner with Petty, and Dale Jr. has talked a lot about finally making the move to Cup because of the Next Gen car. The limitations on Cup drivers in Xfinity hasn't helped.

I think the possibility for chaos exists because of the parts shortage.

Can you run a touch harder than the big teams because the big picture doesn’t matter?

I’m a big Indycar fan. Rarely do you see one of the small teams win on pace.

I'm not denying he's a silver spooner or arguing the merits of how he landed his ride. The fact is he did. And it's a far superior ride to Austin Dillon's as far as competitive advantage is concerned.

that is my biggest concern with the new cars. i do not like the wheel/tire situation, at all. flat tires grind the car to a halt, but also, where is the impact of the pit crew? sure, there were some struggles, but if its all just one nut, they're going to be finished with the tires so much quicker. pit stops are just going to be about how long it takes to add fuel.

the old cars allowed the big money teams to test and refine every inch of the car to save a half a tenth here and a half a tenth there, which the smaller teams couldn't afford to do. making every team run the same equipment WILL level the playing field. teams aren't going to be able to tweak the cars as much, so they will stay more similar. its going to come down to driving ability and race setup, not garage testing and refining.

They’re still going to do that.

You just have to look at Indycar to see how this goes.

9 out of the Top 10 drivers last year came from the Big 4 Teams, and the one that didn’t is arguably part of the Big 5.

They’re going to have better shocks and dampers, better body fit, better rolling resistance, etc.

Hailie Deegan is dealing with some scary stalker issues apparently. Someone has been threatening her boyfriend Chase for the past few months after being catfished by a fake Deegan instagram. The guy started taking serious action towards threatening them this past week which is why Deegan did not race. So sad that they are having to deal with that nonsense.

It's an awesome time. TJ's (Ascf33) been there a few times I believe.

The quality of racing will be pretty shitty again with the Next Gen car and its rules package, but I always expect plenty of chaos given that it's the cutoff race for the Championship 4.

I could scarf down about half a dozen Martinsville hot dogs right now.

Yep, it's the best track I've ever been to. It's pretty no frills but the racing was great and there isn't a bad seat in the house.

    Re: **Offical NASCAR Thread**

I went. God damn I knew it was going to be loud but holy shit. I had seats on row 6 about 100 yards past the start/finish line. Great seat for checking out the pit crews but kinda sucked for everything else. I walked around and observed from turn 1 and that’s where I want to sit next go around.

Clothes are in the wash because they smell like Sunoco racing fuel exhaust and rubber!
