Right.

It just seems the last two years that it’s now standard for a solo e1 to the point that I don’t expect anything different. Just wondering when that started.

Yes. It definitely comes and goes. You may remember that many (most?) DMB shows in the very early days ('93 and prior) began with Dave playing 3-5 songs solo before the band came on.

Certainly, I like a proper 2-song encore more than just a Dave Solo + Closer, but I've also seen my fair share of straight one-song encores (saw a one-song Rhyme & Reason encore back in '99 -- BLECH) to at least prefer the solo song over that.

what song that has only been played once this tour is everyone's favorite/hope they hear it more this tour?

    Typical Situation
    Drive in/Drive Out
    Rhyme and Reason
    Say Goodbye
    Pig
    Bartender
    Sweet up and Down
    SMLAM

some good jams here that hopefully pick up the plays the back half of the tour

The top 6 songs in this list should be played heavily every single tour. There is no reason for them not to be, they are fan favorites from the band's most biggest albums.

TS compliments '22 tour? Well now I HATE '22. MUST TROLL.

Just kidding of course. Totally agree, hopefully all these stay in rotation and not too many turn into one offs or something. Feels like anything is on the table moving into Alpine and SPAC with the trends of types of songs have been debuted lately.

Thought the band was phenomenal in NJ last night. Sounded awesome and seemed to really be having fun. They played the hell out of the "weak" songs and mixed in some real gems.

I will say... Break Free stinks. I really like Madman's Eyes and the chorus of WATM has managed to gain permanent residency in my head since I first heard it. Like Break For It too. But Break Free is really lame.

Re: I don't know about you, but I'm feeling '22 (tour chat)

In line with the above posts, browsing dmbalmanac...looking at the list of songs played 3 or fewer times thus far is frustrating.

1 time: Typical Situation, DIDO, Rhyme & Reason, Say Goodbye, Pig, Bartender, SUAD
2 times: Recently, BOWA, Minarets, The Stone, Stay
3 times: LLD, The Dreaming Tree

Just wish these top tier songs would get more playing time. I know this is an age old complaint though. By comparison, FTWII has 10 plays; Can't Stop has 8 plays; She has 7 plays; Sledghammer has 6 plays.

In better news, the "Break" duo each have 9 plays. Two Step has 11(!) plays.

All of those need to be played more. However, the fact that they have been played at all is encouraging.

DIDO should be in power slots like Closer/E2.

For me it'd be Pig then Typical.

For songs w 1 to 3 plays as a whole, it'd be The Dreaming Tree.

Yes! This popped up in my Google news feed since I've watched several of Michael's reaction videos in the past year or so. I watched this video last night and it's great. I love watching him listening to Derek Trucks' solo; he's just stunned. And the high praise he has for the whole band is awesome. So cool!

Would you rather your encore be formulated:

    #1
    E1: Rye Whiskey/Sister
    E2: Two Step/Ants/Watchtower

    #2
    E1: Windows/Sister
    E2: SMLAM/DDTW/Watchtower

For all of those loving Derek jamming w/ DMB, here's a link to their 2nd part of the four movie series for their new quadruple LP release:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iuf8eKna4wA

All The Love (@ 9:40) and Hold That Line (@ 30:23) feature Derek in Indian mode, meaning digging into his passion for music from India that would be absolutely devastating if he jammed w/ DMB on Minarets, MME, or even What You Are. His ability to play the micro tones and make them sound so good in western music is magical...mystical?

I saw Some Devil/DDTW last year, that was great. DDTW is a great closer.

I wouldn't want to see 2 cover songs in the encore. 3 if you include Stairway To Heaven.

Neither. If these are the options might as well just do something like satellite > crash. At least most in attendance would leave happy.

    Yeah, that's a nice one.

I'd be fine with any option of what's given the does NOT end w/ AAtW or DDtW...not interested in hearing as the last song of the night.

This, of course, means one of the SPAC shows will end w/ AAtW...prolly after a Bayou main set closer...

Taking the entire tour into account and not just the limited options you listed, 2021. Some 2021 E1s included Granny, IBYU, STJL, Crash Into Me, Christmas Song. There were even a couple Two Step > Halloween encores.

The only full band E1s this tour are The Maker, Space Between, Why I Am, and Time Bomb.

But if you had to pick between those two options listed above and not answer an entirely different question which would you pick?

I guess on average, 2022 has a better 9% ending of the show, yes. I'll take 2021's main sets though.

Nice I agree. Might even agree on the main set part. Gonna have to see how the rest of the major stops play out.

Pretty hard to deny the improvement of encores when Two Step has been king this year though.

Always interesting to watch the mental gymnastics that takes place to try to not agree with one of my points though

It's kind of funny to me how much he / they can swing and miss on making people happy w sets considering it's a game that he is in full control of the outcome

2021 really only had one show where I was like, that's terrible. Holmdel. Yikes.

The rest were decent to great. A good way to judge the quality of a tour is to look at the show with the lowest rarity rating, since it represents the average for the most part. Not counting festivals, Riverbend had the lowest-

    Not bad
