It's my favorite configuration too. Butch, Roi, no Tim, no Rashawn.

I enjoy hearing Tim tear up stereotypical electirc solos in the modern configuration of the band. It's like he's mocking every guitarist who ever lived. We all know he's capable of some really unusual shit.

I know nothing about different types of saxophones, but I usually hate the sound when Jeff uses his clarinet looking sax. Can't stand it. I feel like he uses it a ton too. Love him on a standard or baritone though.

Soprano. And I agree, he gets very squeaky and trilly. But that's sort of his playing style.

    Certainly not Roi.

I’m listening to the 8/1/2015 WBP show, and during Loving Wings, Rashawn very clearly teases That Girl Is You at around the 4:45 mark.

I love Loving Wings. Especially the percussion.

And I miss short Dave solos during songs

I recently discovered the LIOG piano solo on Live Trax 11.

    HO. LEE. SHIT.

Favorite era of the band, hands down. I know a lot of people don't like Butch but I'll take piano every song, every show. It's been nice to see Buddy grow in that regards.

Yesssss - the more Buddy can play classical piano and put away the ballpark organ, the more I'll enjoy his presence on stage!

Break for it is straight bad ass.

If they would have released the ‘04 and ‘06 songs (IOY, Crazy-easy, joyride, sugar will, shotgun, sister, break free, GGT) it would have been their best album outside of the Big 3.

Buddy is heading in the direction. If you listen to the beginning of Seek Up when the band comes in, he sounds exactly like Butch did back in the day.

He plays piano on LIOG these days is doing more piano solos on songs like Sweet Up And Down, and that piano intro to MME is great.

As a pianist myself (not that this makes my opinion worth more than yours), I am more moved by buddy than butch.

It’s so frustrating to think about those songs and what that album could have looked like instead of the studio albums they ended up making. I don’t understand why they dislike or don’t use some of their best songs on albums.

The outro to Ants is different this year. It's shorter and a little more subdued.

Just listened to 55th and 3rd studio version. Absolutely love it. Replace carters boring drum pattern with something funky and you have yourself a fan favorite. Well written song.

Random dmb thoughts that don't need their own thread

I’m at the Coldplay show in Atlanta tonight. Someone named Mariah the Scientist is opening and playing right now. Seems like her voice is good, but the mix is so awful that it’s just like a wall of sound beating you over the head every five seconds. Times like these make me understand the “Dave could play the phonebook, and I’d be happy” crowd. If DMB magically appeared and played Can’t Stop and She back-to-back, I might weep tears of unbridled joy. It’s moments like this when I wonder if I am entirely too harsh and care too much about setlists.

    This.
    Everything is relative!

PS there are times when I see the incredible musicians which are DMB and I think almost the same: they could play the Mickey Mouse’s March and make it outstanding

I've been debating checking out Hartford this year but im really on the fence, last night's show looked horrible. I really miss the days when watchtower, satellite, and true reflections were the only land mines in a set.

Totally random, but did y'all know that DMB charted on the Billboard 200 in 2019 for the Rhino's Choice release? At #158

I was looking at the band's wikipedia page and it said that RC peaked at #158 and I thought... there's no way that happened. Had to look it up... sure enough, it did:

For anyone too lazy to search it out. TS is right, happens in the first verse or so. Everyone on stage seems to get a good chuckle out of it.
