I think that this album is a shining example of how an album can be (and should be) more than the sum of its parts. Some of the songs aren't that impressive, but they all fit together and flow into each other so well that they're very difficult to rate individually. Like...I wouldn't rate the last four songs so high if it wasn't for what came before them, if that makes sense.

1. Broken Things - 5 (I've listened to this song 3 or 4 times now, and still can't remember for the life of me what it sounds like. It's just left no impression on me, so I'll come back to that one at some point)

I agree it sounds like SU&D, but not the others so much. It sounds most like Shake Me Like a Monkey, and I like that, too.

But Rapunzel is from a whole other planet.

I was just referring to just funky jam type songs. I think sometimes people dog them for lyrics and really none of them ever have been earth shattering, but something like Too Much (which yes, I love) gets a pass because its old. Its all about if it gets you moving and how Dave's vocal delivery is. And with Belly Belly there's so much to like here, I'm surprised (Boyd is great on it too, and people have been clamoring for that)

Belly Belly is one of my least favorite on the album (just like Shake Me last time). It feels like someone said "you need a Tripping Billies-esque" song and Dave wrote something generic about sex/love. And yes, there are some goofy lyrics in both Shake Me and Belly Belly that make me feel like I would have to apologize for them in neutral company.

As someone said, Rapunzel and Too Much are from another planet. I would argue both those songs - Too Much in particular - are Earth shattering songs.
