Broke down and ordered it from Craft-n-Vinyl in Columbus, OH. I wanted this and was going to wait for black but figured why not go ahead and grab it.

Looks like it’s still available on this site. Anyone know if they’re a reliable store?

Port of Sound is still taking orders, but for ~$20 more than most places

I'd very much appreciate it if someone, dobyblue or whoever, does the mathematical analysis of this to determine if it's more dynamic than the CD.

I think the official “on-sale” date for this is 8/14 (tomorrow), so it might be worth calling around to your local shops if you’re looking to buy. I bet many shops that typically carry a DMB RSD release will have one.

As far as dynamic range analysis, it'll be tough. It's somewhat difficult to accurately measure and compare vinyl dynamic range against CD/Digital formats: https://www.yoursoundmatters.com/mea...e-complicated/

But it passes the "ear test", to me. It was mastered specifically for vinyl, like the other LTs, by Scott Hull. It's the same mix as the CD/Digital release, so you won't get different levels from the multitrack recordings. But if you like the mix on the original release, and you have adequate vinyl playback equipment, I think most will notice apparent dynamic improvements in a few areas.

I think between the packaging materials, pressing and color quality, mastering, and setlist - it's worth the $80 they're charging for a 5LP set.

Mine has shipped from Looney Tunes in West Babylon today. Crazy thing was it was sold out for the first week when available and then I kept checking weeks later and I scored a preorder for about $90 after shipping which was pretty sweet. Then for the hell of it I checked some weeks after that and you could still order more. Guessing some people cancelled their orders for some reason. Should get it by Monday or Tuesday. Don't mean to ask a random question that should be posted somewhere else. Can anyone suggest a quality turn table setup/amplifier/speaker setup that won't break the bank? I have a ton of vinyl that I want to enjoy with a good setup. TIA if anyone has the time to point me in the right direction.

What's your budget? If you don't feel comfortable talking money stuff in the thread feel free to PM me and I can make some recommendations.

    @Royal123

You could also bypass the amp/receiver option for now and make sure the table has a phono pre amp and just get powered speakers. Something like these, but you could probably find something better for a little more money.

thanks for the quick responses, i don't mind talking prices here, i have time now since my kids are older and have the time to research this, the links for turntables and speakers that were posted from pensfan71 are within reason for me, i would rather spend abit more it it means the quality is noticeably better, so i'm open to anyone's personal preferences that they lean to or use themselves, i currently have my mom's setup from decadeds ago that is outdated and overused

Just curious what your mom’s system is?

Here’s another table company to research. One that I almost bought when I first got back into vinyl but at the time, they were fresh out of Kickstarter and there was a 3 month waiting period for their tables and I had money to burn.

    https://uturnaudio.com/pages/turntables

Another speaker recommendation: Great speakers for the price. Most of what Andrew Jones designs is good and budget friendly. I own a pair of Pioneer speakers that he worked on and they are great for the price.

    https://www.elac.com/series/debut-2-0/

My main setup is vintage equipment except my speakers so I don’t have any personal recommendations but things I have provided should help you get started. I do have a second table which is more modern but along the same lines as to the links I’ve provided. I’m sure there are other who might use more modern pieces. Good luck and have fun!

Like many online shops now, Port of Sound partners with an order tracking app called ‘Shop’.
Shop app sent me a notification that the order was shipped.

Did you order yours on 8/12? I ordered mine from there on 8/5 but haven't gotten a shipping or cancellation notice this morning.
