Thank you! Really any info. is helpful. It is kind of surprising that not more people have camped here but I guess when you're ready to camp you camp at the venue. We are tentatively staying at this location b/c we are flying out from NJ into Seattle with a bunch of us and getting everything we need to camp just doesn't seem feasible so we need the place to crash. The place said they should have a shuttle so hopefully that comes through haha

Again any info on these grounds is welcome and thank you everyone for your input!

But isn't Gold just basically camping in the main parking lots?

Yes, they block off however many sections of the parking lot and turn it in to "gold" camping. Liz solicited feedback from people in the Pilgrimage group on facebook and that is what I posted.

How would camping at Vantage be different than camping at the venue? In terms of not needing camping gear?

They've booked a cabin so I assume it comes equipped.

I'm sure the majority of people staying at Vantage will be fans with some random Labor Day Weekend folks mixed in due to the river access.

Oops I had no idea they had cabins.

Yes, it really is about proximity. I hope they come through with the shuttle for y'all. My crew used to camp at Getty's Cove, a now defunct private campground near Vantage, and so many people got pulled over on the way to the venue.

And it's totally do-able to fly and camp, but not everyone is comfortable with the effort/planning that it requires.

From what I've heard they have 4-6 glamping tents but they are insanely expensive and are pretty much not available to the public

Glamping is still available, but extremely limited and much cost. Yurts.

I know REI in Seattle or Spokane have camping "kits" you can rent for the weekend also. Seattle has sleeping bags also.

Yes they do, but they will for sure sell out so if you want to go that route get it booked immediately. Back 40 Outfitters, a new outfitting company as of last year, is already sold out of their kits.

i don't remember if citi has the three day pass...i want to say they don't, so you would have to buy individual tickets.

ticketmaster has the three day passes though, you won't have any issues getting them off there

Thanks a ton - definitely still looking to get my camping through citi presale, and I've heard to do everything I can for premium and not settle for General, right?

Hi! Thinking about making my first Gorge trip and going for premier camping. If I don't get to the campsite until Friday afternoon/evening (only going to Saturday and Sunday shows), how tough is it going to be to get to a decent spot? There's no way we could get bumped to standard, right?

From what I overheard on the Premier shuttle bus last year, they either oversold Premier or left site sizes too wide open on Thursday and Friday morning, and people who arrived later than Friday mid-afternoon were put in a "Premier Overflow" area. Still all the perks of Premier, but set up in General.

    This is true.

So, late arrival means you could be put in general.

This does not compute. The biggest perk of Premier is that it's fenced off and NOT in District 9.

Oh, I know! The people who got off the bus at the overflow area were PISSED about it.

I would be pissed if I paid for premier and ended up in D9 too.

Moral of the story- if you arrive late you risk getting put in "overflow" which is really just D9 with a shuttle.

It's not fair and the people last year were pissed but I guess it happens.

So question for those who have rented equipment from REI before... Everyone seems to be saying to get the reservation in right now, but I just called the Seattle location and was told they won't take the reservation until one month out. Was he mistaken? Or do I set a reminder to call the first of August? Thanks!!

The only reason I said to check now is because other outfitters (such as Back 40) already opened their reservation period and have sold out.

I looked at the prices to rent at REI two years ago and honestly, it was easier to just buy stuff. If you are going to the gorge Thu-Mon it kind of adds up. You could easily buy stuff at Target or Fred Meyer and donate it after the weekend if you don't need it.

I've lurked for a long time... We started talking about The Gorge last summer and by then it was too late to go for 2015. It has now almost become an obsession and we are in. I've read that people bring flags to set up at their camp. I know what I want, but can't find it anywhere. I've checked Etsy. Any suggestions of where to look?

Lots of places online make custom banners and flags -- you just upload an image. I've used www.buildasign.com with success in the past.

Thanks for sharing the website. I will look into it. I want a plain background, probably white, with a firedancer made of the design of the Maryland flag.

My wife and I are making our first trip to the Gorge this year...she's hesitant of the idea of camping though. I've tried to explain to her that even "non-campers" camp to get the full experience. That being said, its still a work in progress. Looking at a satellite map on Google, it looks like to the house left of the venue there is a pool and maybe some cabins or houses?? Anyone know what this is??
