I have never attended RSD Black Friday or any RSD for that matter. Do you go at midnight after thanksgiving or like during the day that Friday? Also I know how to check participating stores for RSD but does anyone know any stores in Chicago or the NW suburbs that typically get Dave Matthews RSD releases?

Black Friday typically sees a lower turnout than the April RSD (probably a mix of lesser releases and people are out of town or at other locations for sales deals).

For RSD, I've typically gotten in line around 5am. For Black Friday, I normally would get there between 6 and 7. Store opened at 9.

I recently moved though and have to scope out the new place for what the turnout will be.

Unsure of Chicago stores, but I know Reckless records is there

Fortunately I have never had to participate in it. I am not familiar with the Chicago area but you could call when it's closer to Black Friday and ask if they are carrying it. They will not hold one for you though.

The only thing I'd question is whether it is definitely 4x vs a 5x. Run times would be much more controlled with 10 sides, but I can understand if they compress it down to 4 to save costs/price.

Quicker than I expected! I was anticipating these release for RSD 2018. Interesting that it is coming on Black Friday instead.

I wonder if they have something new planned for RSD 2018 now.

    Cool.

This is the type of stuff they should keep releasing on vinyl... not stuff unreleased in all other formats

You go during their opening hours. When you get in line is up to you.

I've heard good things about Reckless Records in the past.

You can generally call all the stores - some will tell you what they get in, some won't. But it's good to check around the day before Thanksgiving and see who will tell you what.

Well we do know from the rumors that BTCS will be reissued next year...wonder if that could be it. I would happily take a Listener Supported next year!

Almost positive he said 4LP...I will update with any more info I get in the coming weeks until the official announcement. Also did not catch the quantity being pressed either.

Besides it being the 20 year anniversary and the fact that management released UTTAD and Crash on those 20 year dates, are there actual other rumors?

    If it's a 4xLP, this is what I'd expect.

Side A: One Sweet World, #41, Tripping Billies (~16 minutes)

Side B: Jimi Thing, Satellite (~13 minutes)

Side C: Crash into Me, Deed is Done, Lover Lay Down (~16 minutes)

Side D: What Would You Say -> Minarets, Cry Freedom (~18 minutes)

Side E: Dancing Nancies, Typical Situation, Stream (~20 minutes)

Side F: Warehouse, Christmas Song (~15 minutes)

Side G: Seek Up, Say Goodbye, Ants Marching (~19 minutes)

Side H: Little Thing, Halloween, Granny, Two Step (~20 minutes)

That track listing would make for good breaks after Stream, and can close Side G with the set closer and Side H would be the encore. Also keeps WWYS -> Minarets together as well as Nancies/Typical as a 1-2 punch.

Really hope they don't plan to do an RSD exclusive of BTCS. Make that release a single release on standard black wax. Do it at 45 rpm and include a bonus 7" or 10" for the unreleased material and make it widely available.

Save RSD for live releases. Listener Supported would be a perfect RSD box set.

Nothing that would make it set in stone but from a past posts on here it seems like it's happening. I'm pretty sure we are all expecting that anyways.

The completist in me is crying but I think I'm going (to convince myself) to pass on this.

D&T has never been my favorite. While a quality release, with the holidays right around the corner probably best I skip this one.

How much could it realistically cost from the store? Can’t set you back that much.

And you’re not the first I’ve seen recently saying they don’t like D&T. That’s just crazy stuff to me.

Could be as low as 65, could be as high as 105. These price points are all over the place for these releases. Depends on the store, really.

I'm never one to tell people how to/not spend their money. But the not liking D&T thing is something I can't understand!

My guess is that RSD MSRP will be $80-$90. Warehouse black version (assuming there is one) will be $85.

When does the RSD list for Black Friday usually come out? Should be in the next few weeks I'm guessing...

I asked the quantity being pressed and he didn't have that info at the time. If he does happen to stumble across it I'll let you guys know.

Wow didnt realize they were that high, or varied that much at retail. I was assuming high end like $70. Then again I dont buy vinyl.

And you’re not the first I’ve seen recently saying they don’t like D&T. That’s just crazy stuff to me.
I mean after shipping it'll be at least $85-100. That's $100 I can spend on my wife or put towards gas for all the insane amounts of traveling we do during the holidays.

And it's not that I don't like D&T, I really do. I just feel that the music is better served full band most of the time. And I have to be really in the mood for straight acoustic music; it's not really my go-to.
