I have done my part to add to the opinions section but I am wondering how many pages this thread would be if it was ONLY rumors.

    Re: 2021 Tour Rumors/Status

I thought his was an interesting throw-in line about Chris Stapleton tour in our local paper here in Detroit:

His 2021 All-American Road Show will include two nights — Aug. 6 and 7 — at DTE Energy Music Theatre. They're the earliest show dates so far at the Clarkston venue for a newly announced tour, as the concert industry gradually comes back online following the pandemic shutdown.

(Guessing this is leading towards all other shows prior to these dates as cancelled with DMB being June 22nd)

Nothing earth shattering, just adding to the conversation.

You could go through every page and remove every opinionated comment to find that answer.

On a serious note, I wouldn’t come to this thread if it was rumors only. It’s fun to speculate.

Mohegan may happen after all. Fingers crossed.

"Connecticut will lift all COVID-19 restrictions with the exception of the mask mandate on May 19, Gov. Ned Lamont announced Monday.

The state plans to move forward in two stages, Lamont announced, both contingent on declining coronavirus metrics and rising vaccination rates.

First, on May 1, the state will lift all outdoor restrictions, including allowing bars to operate outdoors without serving food. Then, on May 19, the state will do away with the remaining restrictions. That means bars will be able to open indoors, event venue and stadium capacity limits will be removed and social distancing requirements will be dropped. In addition, gathering restrictions for private events will be eliminated.

The one exception is the indoor mask mandate, which will remain in effect."

Except those two shows don’t mean squat if other states/venues in June and July can’t be full capacity.

They also had a show in nearby Tempe booked and probably got close to seven figures to show up in Vegas.

Interesting logic. ‘I’ve been here forever so rules shouldn’t apply to me!’. ‘I’ve been a member longer than the mods, I should be able to say anything I want’.

Right. The Vegas show was an add on after they already accepted the offer to play the festival, just to add some revenue to make the excursion more worthwhile. That Vegas show needs to be a LIVE TRAX someday. Not only is it a good setlist with some unique song choices, it has the distinction of being the only full on DMB show of 2020 (as we all know festival shows don’t really count).

That Festival show had the better SUAD.

Unpopular opinion, especially around AM.org: the 2020 Vegas show is wildly overrated in both performance and setlist. It's graded on a curve. The Beach Ball is really nice though.

    Re: 2021 Tour Rumors/Status

To answer whether shows are going to happen as scheduled, use a 3 Month timeframe. I assure you that venues and acts are using this or something very close.

So right now, the window is on Late July. The question is, do they expect 100% capacity shows at these venues in Late July. The answer for most large acts is a unequivocal No. That is why these venues are starting to announce cancellations or postponements for shows up through July.

If the band is seriously considering packing 25,000 Campers into The Gorge over Labor Dave Weekend, they probably have to make that call by the end of May, so roughly 6 weeks from now. The clock is ticking.

When people throw out examples of shows by bands incapable of filling a large venue to more than 50 or 60% capacity, it's meaningless. DMB is not such an act. DMB is a 100% capacity event. NH Pavilion has said as much.

We are close to approaching the point, where the only viable option other than a socially distanced Dave & Tim tour, would be to postpone all the shows with tickets sold, to 2022, and set up a brand new itinerary of shows with less than 100% capacity. Exactly like what is being done for lots of other shows and sporting events. Unfortunately, I don't think they would go that route, since it won't bring in enough revenue to make it viable. It would be a nice gesture, but if it's about the $$$$$, you can forget any chance of it happening, unless the venues and acts come to some sort of agreement where they both take less than they normally would, in order to have shows.

I would think it's likely a decision will be made on whether to proceed within the next 2-6 weeks, and that's when we'll likely know for sure whether they plan on having shows starting in September. I'd put that chance at no more than 40%, and that # will either rise over the next few weeks, or fall.

Man, you're a buzz kill. You should leave ca or get off the internet for a while. If all californians are this bad, why live there? We are open with no masks in Montana and covid numbers are not increasing. Yeah, our population is much lower than most but we still are not seeing an increase. The country needs to open up and a thank God for people like Chris Stapleton for saying we're gonna play!

Utterly fake news. There's no link between the vaccines and infertility, and women are strongly urged to get vaccinated regardless of whether they're pregnant or want to become pregnant.

I was in Meijer where I got my first shot and did some shopping afterward, and heard a cashier talking to another cashier at the self check-out about how it does and her OBGYN supposedly advised her against it on those grounds. I just wanted to call her liar to her face so badly.

You can call it fake news, but women who have had it are having more difficult periods and issues with pregnancy. You can believe the government and what THEY are telling you, that's your call. Anyways, I plan to have a fake card if needed to access my shows this year. Hoping it doesn't come to that and we have live shows. It shouldn't matter the % of people who get the vaccine. If you want it, it should be available. If you choose to take the risk, then so be it. Shows should be happening if the vaccines are available.

My sister-in-law's OBGYN advised her against it as well. Might be a bit different since her and my brother had the virus already, so the risks for them getting it might be lower than whomever you overheard, but I assure you, there are doctors that believe there's enough evidence to advise some patients about getting the vaccine. Her and my brother are waiting. I have two shots down.

If you want it, it should be available. If you choose to take the risk, then so be it. Shows should be happening if the vaccines are available.
Admitting you will fake a vax card. Great person you must be.

    Get some help.

Yep! Proud to say it to. Proud to stand up for something I disagree with. What I do agree with is show happening this summer and wanting to go.

I was at that festival and tried to make both but my WH request to Vegas was denied (like so many others). I checked Almanac and the festival set was less than 10 minutes and 3 songs shorter than the Vegas set. As someone that got The Riff and Sweet Up and Down for the first time at that festival I'd argue based on that set it does count as a real show. Some of their festivals - like ACL in 2009 which I was also at - don't 'count' but this one (Set list based - especially with no way to know what they planned to pull out from the archives on the tour) does count. I loved this show and unlike after N3 at the Gorge in 2016, I never would have dreamt it'd be the last full band show for... who knows how long.
