I wanted to make a thread for discussing this song, I think it’s my favorite previously unheard song from the Batson Sessions. I also wanted to point out the confusion of the title. Due to the misspelling on the leaked track list, fans will forever be calling this song Bullets and Rum. This song really hits home for me, it’s a different sound for DMB, but at the same time fits really well in Dave’s repitore. Some one (BTBaboon?) mentioned they hear a bit of Peter Gabriel in this song, and I have to agree. Anyways, share your thoughts on this newly found song. Do you like it? Do you hate it?

The tracklist on the picture of the disc says "Run," but the line "It's like a party with bullets and run" makes no sense at all, so IMO it's most likely a typo in the tracklist that was fixed by whoever tagged the leaked track.

Sure it could be, but why would it be? Much more likely that it's a (very easy-to-make) typo.

This is going to turn into another "with the asset of time" vs. "with the passage of time" isn't it?

Have you listened to the lyrics? It’s called Bullets and Rum. Run makes no sense in the lyrics of the song.

The first thing I thought of when I heard this song was that it sounded like a very similar chord progression to Cornbread. Almost like a slowed down version played with chords, not single notes. Do you guys hear that?

Sure they do. They're not a 100% rhyme that traditionalist poets would approve of, but they're rhymes nonetheless.

Same type of rhyme here in Dreaming Tree:

The first verse seems to support the run lyric:

I'm pretty late to the Batson Sessions party. Just started kind of dicking around with it very recently.

I basically agree with the singing altogether. It feels pretty bad.

The music to it though beneath is unreal. Fantastic. Only spending time with it as someone is alluding to it being Revolution on the upcoming album. My thoughts would be musically keep 100% intact, and rework altogether the lyrics and singing.
