Per my setlist.fm account, I'm sitting at 73 shows this year. Before this year, my previous high was 69 shows in 2009. I have several shows planned for this year and a festival next weekend. Last I counted I was going to end up around 94 shows this year. Not sure I'm going to be able to hit the century mark unless some more shows get announced or I get spontaneous.

Yeah I was looking at NYC shows one time and it was unreal how much live music y'all get. So many venues. Plus you're decent driving distance to several other massive metropolitan areas. Must be pretty awesome.

$5?!? I spent $250 each when I got these for my wife's birthday earlier this year.

Nothing but The Beach Boys (Brandon, MS) tonight. Then gov’t mule (Jackson, MS) in late Oct.

Gov’t mule is way more my style. I’m just seeing the BB for the heck of it because they are famous.

I’ll probably never hit 12 concerts in a year. My max has been 3 maybe 4.

I always thought McCartney was overrated. I was wrong. Didn’t waste a minute and was heavily involved in the 2+ hour festival set. No filler/backup singer bullshit and he sounded great. Not bad for the third best Beatle in his 70’s. Pay the ticket price, go see him if youve ever considered it.

At this point he's the only reason I'm still going to ACL.

Questions, b/c I go to shows all the time and I'm still in awe of this:
    - Whats your profession? Does it have to do with music? or you just have a work schedule where you can do this?
    - Are you paying face value for most these, or do you have some connection?
    - How frequently are you looking for shows to go to?
    - Are you into all these acts, or do you go to some shows thinking "meh, they're not bad, I'll check them out"?
    - Are you pretty comfortable financially that you can go to these without worrying about how much you're spending on concerts?

I have the same mindset of going to as many shows as I can, and I love it, but you're the next level...mostly its money or schedule conflict stopping me, wondering if you're just at the next level of fandom. I went to 3 big shows last week and that was like a really saturated week for me, but looks like you're doing that on the regular.

Agree. They're the only Christian band/Country-ish band that I'm into, and I was kind of blown away when I saw them. Really solid, and lead singer is a great front man.

    - Whats your profession? Does it have to do with music? or you just have a work schedule where you can do this?
I do marketing and graphic design. I'm fortunate to work for a really great employer who works with my schedule. I usually work 8-4 M-F with no lunch. They have the mindset that as long as I do my work and do it well it doesn't matter what my hours are. Some days I leave at 3 and others I'll work until 11. Since they're really good to me I don't really mind when I have to work late to get a job done. And I really enjoy what I do so of me I'll sit up at night or the weekend to tweak things because I enjoy it and want to return my efforts for what they do for me.

    - Are you paying face value for most these, or do you have some connection?
Typically paying face. I've sorta figured out the system. I watch concert sales like some people watch real estate. I've picked up on what shows are going to sell out immediately and which I can hold out on tickets. Most of the time if a show is selling poorly they drop ticket prices and I can hold out for cheaper seats. But in the end it really all comes down to budgeting

    - How frequently are you looking for shows to go to?
Not necessarily looking for shows. I'm fortunate to live in a music city (Memphis) and am a quick drive away from Nashville which gets all the shows. So whenever there's an announcement one of those two places is on the tour dates usually. Normally, I just find out about shows through social media. I follow all the bands I like and the venues in my area and Nashville so I can keep up with their announcements.

    - Are you into all these acts, or do you go to some shows thinking "meh, they're not bad, I'll check them out"?
Mostly into all of them. If I'm paying more than $20 I want to like the band and actually get something for my money. I won't spend more than that on someone I'm just meh on. We're fortunate to have Levitt Shell, a venue that does 50 free shows a year. Usually small names, up-and-comers and some local artists. Since it's free and you can bring your own food and drink we go basically every show. I've gotten to see and become a fan of a lot of artists I never would've heard of otherwise.

    - Are you pretty comfortable financially that you can go to these without worrying about how much you're spending on concerts?
My wife is a doctor which helps a lot but more importantly, she understands my passion. One of the reasons we live in Memphis is for the music scene. I know we won't have the financial flexibility we have right now (meaning kids in the future) and will likely move back to boring Mississippi one day. So basically she's letting me get it out of my system But in all honesty, the biggest difference maker I've found is just budgeting. Watching what shows are selling and planning out when I'll get tickets so as to not overload our budget.

I have the same mindset of going to as many shows as I can, and I love it, but you're the next level...mostly its money or schedule conflict stopping me, wondering if you're just at the next level of fandom. If you live near Memphis, go see Houndmouth Friday night at Minglewood.

Saw them earlier this year. Pretty good. I'm going to a free outdoor show Friday night since the weather is supposed to be awesome.

    Re: Your 2018 Concerts

I wasn’t planning on it, but I’m now going to Garth Brooks at Notre Dame Stadium tonight. First concert ever in the stadium and forecast calls for 30s, wind and rain. Should be interesting. I only know a few Garth songs but should be a fun time and cool moment.
