perhaps something went wrong after the fact. trouble landing resulted in catastrophe? That's stretching a bit, sure, but we don't really know what happened.

There is perhaps some legitimacy to not declaring it immediately. Maybe they get more $$ if the search has already been on-going?

Do we know the flight path and where they lost contact? From the images I've seen on TV they had it close to the "mouth" of the Gulf of Thailand.

I may come off a bit like SUC on this one, but I am under the theory that everything that needs to be known about this incident is already known and the folks in charge just aren't letting on to the public. It seems juvenile to me that in this day in age something like a plane can just disappear. Could be governmental, could be terrorist, but somebody knows something and aren't aren't showing their hand

I think people underestimate how fucking big the ocean is. 777 is a needle in a haystack.

Some phones from 9/11 rang for like a week after, didn't they? Obviously they are closer to service, but I feel like some phones can last a while if they aren't roaming and constantly in use. It's strange they could connect for sure, but batteries can last long when you aren't constantly using them.

I agree, so not arguing with you, I just find it fascinating/strange that between satellites (both imaging and tracking), GPS, knowing the trajectory of the flight, how many planes/boats are looking, etc that nothing has been found.

My thoughts exactly.

ANY debris there MIGHT have been couldn't have traveled outside of their search grid from the time they realized the plane was gone to the time they started to search.

Last I heard they were searching a 50 mile radius around last known position.
