Why do none of his people help him craft his messaging? What's he going to do, call the BEA's GDP report "fake news"?
The right play here is to say "The past two month's reports show we have contained the economic impact and what we are doing is working. We still have a long way to go, but I am the candidate who can preserve the value and worth of the US economy through this crisis".
Instead, he's going to take a "Mission Accomplished" victory lap and then get hit with some terrible economic data almost immediately after, and right at the height of the GE campaign launch.
