Doobie Thing definitely awesome. I'd also never listened to Break For It, I dig it a lot. Groovy song.

I wish they'd jam like Doobie Thing nowadays. It would be awesome to hear Dave's guitar that clearly in a jam.

Edit: I mis-read what you were saying. But anyhow, I put the thought together so I'll leave it up.

The other way to look at it is mgmt didn't want folks to spend 175 on a limited edition major anniversary bundle and then provide the digital DL only to saturate the fan base with these versions of the songs. Granted, folks will, or already have, converted to digital I am sure, but if you want a truly limited ed. product, then you do it the way they did(or have so far).

What they could do to address these concerns is release another set of songs for a 25th annv. cd/download. Just have the two options. They wanted this bundle truly limited, like the warehouse CDs are. Or s better example, Like the CD that came with Central Park pre-sale or the d+t cd that came with the some devil pre-sale

    Re: DMB Live 25 - 5LP Vinyl (180g)

Just another thought- They could release these songs on DVD only. By my count, all but four would be on tape. I don't think this would hurt the value of vinyl. And it gives everybody the option to listen and have on DVD. I don't know though.. it's contradicting to my last post above. Just not sure of their thought process.

Considering I bought within the first 20 minutes of it hitting the WH, I'd be so incredibly disappointed.

That said, I finally got shipping confirmation which appears to have been delayed solely due to the bundle I ordered (stupid pin?). Fingers crossed as it says it should arrive by Wednesday.

I love how Seek Up begins with Dave saying "Ya'll been really, really good to us, thank you." What a perfect way to start this collection of songs! Wonder if this bit of Davespeak had any influence on selecting this particular version of Seek Up?

For the people who have a digital copy of it that they ripped is there a way to send it to the ones who bought it and can show proof? My record player skips and isn't that great, I haven't got to listen to it yet. I know I'm probably gonna have some people bitch me out, but it's the only option I have other than buying a new record player, which the wife wouldn't let happen

I'm going to assume you aren't a patent attorney so this is your (and everyone else's warning).

When you buy music, you own a copy of that music. i.e. that CD, that vinyl, that iTunes file. You do not own a copyright in the music itself. So ownership of the LP doesn't give you the right to ask for a copy of the same music in a digital format. I know it seems like it would. But it doesn't.

From a technical perspective it could be argued that you can't even make a digital copy for yourself unless it's for the purpose of having a back-up if your vinyl melts. And I'm assuming that's everyone's purpose, right? Yes.

I know it sucks. I'm sorry your record player is not awesome. Check Craigslist or try to negotiate a Christmas in August present with the wife.

Well, the Pig selection is quite head scratching. Dave flubs up multiple times. There's got to be other unreleased versions that they could've chosen from...

Sorry, I always thought if you owned it that it would be okay to get a digital copy. I'll just wait and eventually get to hear it. My wife would kill me if she knew I bought the box set anyways cause of the cost. Thanks for the clarification.

    Truth.

I just can't REALLY get into instrumentals. #34 is obviously a beautiful piece of music, but I prefer the version(s) with lyrics. Lyrics are the thing that hooks me with a band first and foremost. It's what got me into DMB in the first place for sure.

I was super pissed with KKJ showed up on Busted Stuff as an instrumental.
